Conny absolutely losing his shit at Annie eating the pie is such a great moment. The last time they saw her was almost half a decade ago and she was killing dozens of their comrades. Now the fucking apocalypse is happening and the first time they see her, she looks like a chipmunk with how much food is stuffed in her face during a celebration of complete global genocide. The ridiculousness of the situation seems to just kind of break poor Conny.

Mikasa sees herself in Louise. Mikasa saved Louise just like Eren saved her. Louise joined Survey Corps because she wanted to be close to Mikasa. Just like Mikasa. She had to walk away from Louise because she had to walk away from herself. This path of selfless love and obsession had brought her to a crossroad. She would die like Louise having no regrets even on her deathbed. That's what she will be like if she continued on this path. She will have no regrets even after killing the entire world to save Eren. She had to walk away. Connie laughing at Annie was a weird take on the outside. But if we skip to season 1 during the Annie's rampage on Levi Squad, he didn't see Annie directly killing. In the last Female vs Attack Titan fight, he was inside wall rose with Sasha, Reiner and Bertholdt. The last memory they had was similar to today's. Annie, Armin and Connie were deciding on which regiment to join. It was an impulsive reaction by Connie. He had the habit of laughing at "certain someone" who always gobbled down food. Poor guy just misses his olden days. His mom, Sasha and the reasons he became a soldier. "Sasha, would you have understood how I feel ?" Everyone's heart breaks into a million pieces. "It's said your skill rivals to one of the Nine Titans. How would you dodge my bullet ?" He won't dodge your bullet. Go ahead and shoot. It's the only chance anyone of you will ever get. Not even one of the nine Titans could bring him down when he was on two feet. You think he is weak now that he has one eye, one leg and lost some fingers. But you fail to understand. You were not there when his comrades kept charging towards rocks as big as houses head on. You were not there when he saw his people shredded to pieces just to give him a chance to take down the beast titan. He witnessed his squad get crushed just because they followed his orders. You were not there to see his commander commanding his corps with one hand. Marley or one of Titans were not there to see him let go of his commander. You don't know the pain he went through of killing his own squad himself. You think he is weak now ? Humanity's strongest soldier has always been weak. Too weak to give up. You think he is finished ? Levi Ackerman is just getting started.

Love the pick up on Mikasa and Louise, she's absolutely just Mikasa's Mikasa. They both joined the scouts following someone else, someone they loved who saved them when they were children, and seem to have lived their whole lives chasing after someone who was never really there. And the last thing we saw Eren tell Mikasa before this? "I've always hated you." Made her feel like some kind of leech. Mikasa didn't even have the courtesy to say as much to Louis before walking away. It's an AoT meme to call out the many parallel moments in the story, but really, it's so good. Great scene and character dynamic, brief as it is.

I think theres a paralel between Louise (I think thats her name) and Kaya too. Louise is inspired by Mikasa when she fells the titan in S1 and threatens Reeves. But she only understands that through the lens of violence. Of destroying those who oppose her. A path that Mikasa was taken down by Eren. Kaya is inspired by Sasha when Sasha puts herself in harms way to protect her from a titan. Instead she learns not to destroy what she hates but to protect others who need help. She tried to help "Ben" and "Mia" at the farm and then protected Gabi from the soldiers. That was a path that Sasha was led down by her father. Interestingly, Gabi has flitted from one side to the other, she tries to destroy what she hates again and again, in the war with the eastern federation, in Liberio, in the airship, in the prison, on the farm and finally when she shoots Eren ... and every time it fails. But in this episode, she doesn't try to kill Connie and instead, Armin risks his life to, once again, protect others that need it. And Falco is saved because Connie decides that is who he would rather be too. I have no idea whether this was the intended reading, but AoT so often has parallels and these narrative rhymes that make it so compelling and I struggle to believe that any of it is accidental. Its just too cohesive to not be designed that way

the mikasa scene is interesting cause liouse relationship to mikasa isnt exactly the same as mikasas relationship to eren. Mikasa sees eren and the scarf as a representation of the beauty of the world and liouse sees mikasa as a source of strength to fight the evil in the world. So mikasa uses her strength to protect whereas liouse tries to use it to fight oppression, but because she doesn't fully understand mikasa, she loses her way and fights for the wrong thing. I like the scene because of this and its a representation of something that wasnt really present in the show, but was in the manga concerning mikasa monologues about her responsibility because of her strength. It shows how even in using her strength to protect, it can have bad consequences.

Like it's hypocritical. Mikasa needed the scarf more, it gets pretty cold when you have ice in your veins. No but for real, while dealing with the ball of emotions that is accepting that she may have to kill the person she loves and was potentially programmed to protect, in order to save a world that hates her for just existing, which he is trying to destroy because he loves her but also he said he's always hated her, Mikasa comes across a dying girl wrapped in the symbol of her love and devotion for Eren. A kid that is a victim of war because she was inspired to be like Mikasa and follow Eren. Also, to Louise the scarf is a symbol of Mikasa, and Mikasa knows she's about to betray this girl so she probably wants to create some distance before she destroys the cause that her biggest admirer is currently dying for. Assuming she is dying, she looks like shit but people survive with a bit of shrapnel in them all the time. I don't think Eren sees the scarf the same way that Mikasa does, I think he sees it as a symbol of her being his slave and that's why he wants it to be thrown away, he wants her to be free from him because he loves her. That's my theory.

Again, if someone who almost got me killed in a terrorist bombing thought I'd be flattered because they did it "to be closer to me", I'd think they were a psycho too. Louise' fate is part of AoT's grander anti war message

"This world is cruel and very beautiful" The reason why Mikasa is so cruel to Louise is because she represents the part of the world that Mikasa doesn't like. Louise understands that to achieve something in this world you need to be strong (remember Mikasa's reasoning before activating her Akerman power) because she saw Mikasa being so when she saved her. I feel like this whole situation is really complicated. Because even if Eren tramples everything outside the walls, conflict isn't going to magically go away. We've seen before in the Uprising Arc(which had basically nothing to do with titans and outside threats and showed that conflict between people is inevitable) and the Great Titan War(where Eldians pretty much ruled the world but self destructed because they were too greedy and began fighting amongst themselves). Even if the Eldians rule over people or are the only ones left in the world, conflict is inevitable and unstoppable. And after some time, people will just begin fighting again. We saw hints of this last episode with some people being super on board with Eren and other people absolutely hating him because taking the walls down crushed some of his own people. And several clans are immune to the memory wipe and the control so Eren could never fully control the situation by wiping their memories. On the other hand, even if Connie and them do stop Eren, a majority of the Island supports Eren. So even if they save the world and potentially become heroes, their Island will consider them to be traitorous criminals and potentially drive them out or try to execute them. And most of the people have been pretty extreme(with a lot of them agreeing with Floch). So there's not really many options here. Man, imagine your only interaction with your childhood hero being in a jail cell where she coldly cuts you off, a brief conversation before battle, and an even briefer conversation as you're dying. Poor Louise. I wish she would've at least had one positive interaction with Mikasa after actually getting to meet her. Also, poor Hitch. That scene was really sad..

Conflict is innate within all humans as it is a product of the natural law of self-preservation which is inherent in all human beings. Eren is taking care of a threat to himself and his kin which is his immediate concern not potential conflict xxx years in the future. After that threat is taken care of, It's up to him and the Jeagerist's to ensure peace and stability in Eldia afterwards. The populace of Eldia seem are on board with Eren and the Jeagerists but the traitors (the alliance) need to be dealt with asap.

There’s an entire episode that displays the contrast between Kaya/Sasha, Louise/Mikasa, and how power is portrayed. Kaya was inspired by Sasha to be a good person and help others, on the contrary, Louise had a corrupted ideal of how Mikasa uses her power, and becomes a Jaegerist. Mikasa uses her power when other people are too weak to fend for themselves, Louise becomes part of a fascist group thinking it’s what Mikasa would do. Essentially, Louise isn’t a good person and her ideals clash with Mikasa’s. Not to mention Mikasa has saved Louise on various occasions, even the day prior, but Louise oppressing others with power is the opposite of what Mikasa does. It is what it is.
