--
Satan, the beast crunching sinners’ bones. Lucifer, the fallen angel. Mephistopheles, the trickster striking deals. These three divergent devils are all based on Satan of the Old Testament. But unlike any of these literary devils, the Satan of the Bible was a relatively minor character. So how did he become the ultimate antagonist, with so many different forms? Brian A. Pavlac investigates.
Lesson by Brian A. Pavlac, directed by Reza Riahi & Mehdi Shiri.

Just a week ago here in italy we celebrated "Dantedì" "dante's day"; a sign of respect and appreciation for the glorious poet. I hoped there would be a mention of the Quranic version of Satan. Im Quran, there is one other intelligent species on earth called the Jinn (Genies), who were created before humans, and had a lesser degree of free will. In that Narrative, Satan was a Jinn really close to and beloved by the god. But when god creates humans, Satan thinks the creation is a mistake and that (their complete free will) will cause their failure. His disdain for humans causes his fall from grace, and he vows to prove that humans free-will will eventually lead to their failure.

I would like to add Portrait of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde. The characteristics of the formerly work is parallels with Faust. I recommend it due to it shows a main character, whom seeks maintaining his beauty for his soul. This immortality results the main character (Dorian Grey) falls to hedonisme and his never ending desires.
