Tuna on Toast with Stryker

Күн бұрын

Tom Delonge joins Ted Stryker as they discuss Angels & Airwaves and how the new album LIFEFORMS came together...In the interview, Tom opens about about operating on the fringe for such a long time, the public questioning all is professional moves, from his departure from Blink 182 to "chasing aliens" to working with the US Government. Tom also discusses with Stryker his contract with the government in regards to a craft of unknown origin. Tom also talks about Blink 182 getting their record deal, the non-stop cycle Blink 182 was on and how that affected his personal and professional life. Tom opens up about his current relationship with Mark Hoppus, and how Mark's incredibly sad cancer diagnosis helped their friendship (episode was recorded just before Mark announced he was cancer free). Tom also tells a hilarious story of the time he approached an employee at Christopher Nolan's company Syncopy Films talking followed by his crazy encounter with Chris Nolan himself. The episode closes with a story about what happened when Blink 182's record company came to listen to the album Dude Ranch for the first time, and, how Tom deals with critics today.

Can I just thank you for the calm way you interview and how you actually let him talk, so that he gave us a piece of his mind this way? You asked all the right questions for him to give such answers to. This was such an interesting interview, easygoing and grounded but also deep and inspiring, while at the same time making me laugh and feel... at home. Without being cliché, I felt a lot of heart here from both of you, and it was beautiful. Thank you so much. In time I'm going to check out more of your videos, I have to sit with this one for a bit...

Consider the use of "flying saucers" (UFOs) as a means of delivering atomic weapons. This is very important and relevant, due to the fact that air defense is sharpened against ballistic missiles and aircraft, and UFOs calmly overcome them. The risk threshold has decreased - an atomic war may begin. It was the phenomenon of such devices in the late 80s that frightened the leadership of the USSR. All these "UFOs over Krasnoyarsk", "UFOs over Perm" + the explosion of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant... Therefore, the leaders of Communist Party went to an honorable surrender... However, for 30 years, the Russian Federation has been able to bring its electrokinetic flying machines to mind, and now there is panic in the United States - unknown objects are flying over the territory of both NATO and the United States. They have something to be afraid of: such combat UFOs will successfully deliver nuclear bombs to decision-making centers and enemy missile silos, bypassing air defense. Americans were very scared of russian "flying triangles" and other unidentified phenomena, so the May meeting of the US Congress on UFOs was started in open mode, and then had to be classified. There are still no details in the media - what did the congressmen learn from intelligence? Now the situation is extremely tense, because "flying saucers", "triangles", etc. are very dangerous weapons. So, the threshold for starting an atomic war has dropped sharply, there is a real temptation to strike the first blow without fear of a response... Everyone in the world knows: UFO-secret spy equipment from the United States. The stories of witnesses are real, the collection of information about the passage of objects is real, but about aliens - speculation, which is supported by the disinformation of the cover spread by the special services. "Flying saucers" - earth technology. Secret technology-plasma propulsion panels, cells, rail-electron architecture. They are just located in the form of round zones around the perimeter and on the bottom of the device. From below and along the movement, a column of circular vortices is created - this is how the device flies... Find the material "UFO - it's made in the USA" on the Aftershock website or the video "Declassified UFO". There is also my book about this - "The Crown of Communication", read it. This is a spy technique. It is tested and used for various purposes. The pilots don't know all the secrets. Christopher Taylor Buckley wrote about this program in his satirical novel "Little Green Men". This is also said in the movie "Roswell: Final Declassification (History Channel)" - easy to find on WWW. Now there are such ships in Russia, of course. Because of their arrivals, hearings were held in the US Congress.

I saw Angels and Airwaves on their very first tour in Oklahoma City. They still had Ryan Sinn on bass (who absolutely did not fit in imo). He did an AvA-esque cover of 'I Miss You' that was really cool. I remember hearing 'Do It For Me Now' for the first ever at that show and being blown away by it. My favorite part was when the whole band left the stage for Tom to tell a story about a guy with a big dick and then he was joined onstage by David Kennedy with his acoustic guitar and they played 'There Is' and the whole time they were doing the song Tom was dancing around David and randomly pinching his butt trying to screw him up. It was hilarious

Then came along Blink and "oh thank God" ! a fucking cool rock band after all this boy band, and rythm and blues pop songs bands. Blink saved the day for me. So when i first heard Euforia, I was reminded of Rush Tom Sawyer. I bet ILAN gets this because I know he respected Neil Peart as a great drummer/song writer.

What’s successful about being away from your family? What’s successful about not getting along with your bandmates and not having a real life? Now compare that with someone who has a smaller house and is still making their art but gets to be home and take their kids to the park. Who’s the one who’s really successful?” I love Tom so much

Great interview. I'm so glad there is this form of interviewing nowadays, so that the interviewer can invite whoever he likes, because back when we only had TV interviews, I swear, most of the times they were the most boring thing ever, always the same questions about who produced the album or something, and rarely if ever you would get to see an interviewer who really loved the band and asked about the music itself and the band and what inspires them and all that. I really hope Tom knows what a big impact he and Blink182 had on a generation and I'm grateful I was there to see it all happen.

The fact that B182 is still putting out records to this very day makes the world a brighter place. The reason you are here when so many other artists from the 90s aren't is because in the face of all the negativity and criticism and changing tastes, you kept making music. Great interview! die hard blink and angel and airways fan and supporter of Tom's alien project's. I always knew he was on to something everyone calling him crazy I knew existed long time ago it just no one had been brave enough to tackle that.

I feel like Tom is the type to really go off on a tangent with certain things and this guy is interviewing him on his own topics. I feel like most people who interview Tom just seem like they are more excited to interview him than actually listen to what he’s talking about.

I’ve always been fascinated by the ufo phenomena too and am so proud he stuck with it and had a part in the govt finally acknowledging it. This was a great interview. Tom, will always be my inspiration. no matter when my friends say he's crazy about his alien stuff, i still listen to his songs, and "The Adventure" is like my contract with him. and I also like things related to outer space and all its mysteries. So, I think I signed a "contract" with the right person. 😁

Good interview wished he talked more about UAP, at the citizens disclosure project in 2013 at the DC press club they had a full week of UFO eye witnesses testify, I worked as a volunteer bilingual interpreter , we heard amazing first hand UAP encounters from retired miltary personel 10 years before the recent 2023 congressional hearing, sadly there was a media blackout on the 2013 citizens hearing, so hardly nobody knows about it, you can still find the 2013 hearing on youtube

This is the first Tom interview I've watched since the Joe Rogan interview and it was good to hear Tom able to go a few minutes at a time without being asked about some super secret government things he either doesn't know about or simply can't comment on either way. That aside, Thank you Tom Delonge. I used to play the mark tom and Travis show on repeat with my guitar in hand and then later take off your pants and jacket and boxcar. I would play along with you guys for hours everyday, until I eventually started improvising over you, and that taught me so much about music. I don't wanna understate it you basically taught me guitar. Thank you.
