@@stonerjoshua6848 Would you recommend an RS for someone who wants to learn to drive stick, and wants something unique and fun, but not so unique that it's a nightmare to find parts for? I'm looking for something practical, fun to drive, reasonably reliable (not lasting half a million miles reliable, but can make it to 150k or so without a ton of massive issues reliable) good looking, fun to mod, and enjoyable to own. As a massive Ford fan, finding a Ford that meets these requirements would be ideal. It sounds like the focus RS is a blast to own, I'm just worried about maintenance and repair costs, how forgiving it would be to learn manual on, and what it would be like to live with. It seems like worst case scenario, the engine isn't super expensive to replace, it's about $4,500 - $6,000 and fully built new focus RS motors seem to be around $8,900. By modern standards, that's not terrible.

@@davidgul5394 A 10% bias between the front and rear wheels is not enough to induce power oversteer in the dry, that’s talking from experience. The Focus RS has an atypical AWD system with real torque vectoring. There’s a drift mode and it will send more than 60% of the power to the rear, the RS can do real donuts. Many cars offer AWD but few do it right in the eyes of the enthusiast. STI’s with the DCCD adjusted to the rear, EVO’s with AYC, and B7 and up RS Audi’s are some of the few that have RWD biased dynamics. The Ford Focus in general is a very good car. At least I think. I have a 2008 Ford Focus SES, and it handles VERY well for a family car. I've been able to run it at 90 mph along a 55-mph freeway turn without losing significant traction, thanks to its front AND rear anti-roll bars. It may not be the fastest car, but they sure are a joy to drive! I think the fact that the 2008 Focus has a stiff steering is a plus, as it makes it harder to make unintentional steering corrections - it kinda forces you to be precise in cornering, and reduces the chance that loss of traction or bumps will rip the steering wheel from your grip. And the engine - my gosh - it can last a LONG time.

The ecoboost mustang and mazdaspeed6 both were manufactured at the same manufacuturing plant. the ecoboost is just diffrent from it with a bigger turbo and sportier supporting mods. The "could" be a chance that the awd systems from the mazdaspeed6 was borrowed and redeveloped to fit the hatch. In turn making the focus st an awd mazdaspeed3 Note: All these cars are in some way related to each other cause of ford and mazda's buddy-buddy relationship If I am wrong on any point please correct me cause as a yt car community we all should help each other -Thank you

I added a short shift kit, swapped to solid bushings, upgraded the clutch spring, and went with a more robust rear motor mount, and it improved the shifting/driving experience dramatically. Another top video! Have thought about switching from my m235i to one of these but don’t think I could live with that interior! Would love to drive one sometime though

Funny you should say that! The owner also has an m235i 😂

How do you like your M235i? I had an N54 E92 and fell in love with that engine. My daily is a 328ix wagon so I’ve got a hankering for another in-line six. My 10k Evo X MR is my crack cocaine car but a bit nuts for long trips. I was thinking that an M235i would be a good combination of balls out fun and long distance comfort.

@@lotsofcurveslover yeah that pretty much sums it up! I have the auto and it’s great for everyday driving but plenty fun for a weekend drive with the paddles. Not sure where in the world you are but in the U.K. they are amazing value too. Literally half the price of an M2 and 90% of the performance, probably a better daily driver too. I love mine but looking to change to something more extreme next because it’s likely to be the last car I don’t need to think about practicality!

@@sugna123 I’m in the U.S. and we can get mint ones with less than 50k miles for $25k or even less. I have my eye on one now but I need to sell the Evo first. Thanks for the info.

As a daily, Id personally get a Golf R over this. Almost as much power, and a better interior

definitely the easier car to live with but nowhere near as fun to drive

So what’s the deal everybody? Why does Honda and now Toyota get all the praise when this vehicle is well liked. Put the pressure on Ford to bring this thing back and don’t settle for less. Their powers and bean counters are simply out of touch - people still desire cars like these so they still should be produced POINT BLANK!

I got an 2015 se I don’t like hatchbacks but I this little thing made me love it I am looking to add a turbo, new exhaust, new headlights, rims, and maybe get a new clutch if it needs to be replaced the original owner kept the car in immaculate condition with just a tiny bit of rust 207,592 miles actually before she gave it to me she put new tires new brakes and changed the oil as a present for getting my license and being certified to be a mechanic so any other recommendations for my car

Actually the focus RS is rear biased, since it can send 70% of the power to the rear wheels

Two full length ads before the video? Classy move.

It’s not a move. It’s KZbin. I dont choose that.

On a dry Track the Civic Type R is better handling. If it's damp advantage focus because 4WD.

All the reviews I see are the every day RS and this one is the same. I bought a limited edition RS in 2018 and never looked back. On the track, VW R, WRX, STI good-by. Ok the ride is a bit stiff on the street. But what do you want ? They built it for one thing. to continue the RS legend and it does. No other manufactures holds that title. Now.....RS....RIP. Good-by to a legacy !

Now that you've driven the ST/RS trio, how do you feel they compare to each other?
@tdm44853 жыл бұрын
STs can't get the power down, doesn't inspire confidence at all at full clap on twisty roads, also the steering goes light and is almost unpredictable. It's almost the same with the Golf GTi compared to the R. Although the Focus RS almost solves the power/steering issues when giving it the beans. Personally i think a Golf R is a much better driving experience all round.
