Tips for Abarths: -If you want to replace the shifting knob, its not like other knobs that screw off, instead there is a bolt in the middle that holds it down -If you can't find the locks for the doors, worry not they are operated from the door handles, simply press them in. -These cars CHUG oil, be very vigilant of your dip stick -If you want the pops and bangs, throw it into a higher gear at low speeds (like 3rd or 4th at ~40mph) then hit the gas, wait for boost to peak into 14-18Psi then let go of the throttle and. . . *POP* -If you want good gas mileage then keep the revs lower than 3.5K, If I keep it in that threshold I usually sit around 32mpg any higher and it can dip as low as 19mpg.

I had a nice 2013 Abarth for about 3 years and it didn’t use much oil. Also, if you put a decent cold air or short ram intake on it, it really comes alive. You hear turbo whistle and flutters in addition to the great exhaust sound! And with mine, I felt like the intake alone gave it another 10hp, maybe more, and also boosted the fuel economy. I got over 40mpg on a highway tank through the mountains of Colorado. I miss my Abarth… had to get a family car 😢

I've been driving diesel SUV's for years now & decided to buy one of these 6 months ago - absolute blast & glad I did - fitted cruise control for long journeys & it's great. I have noticed that people HATE being overtaken by this thing - the number of times I've overtaken a really slow driver & they're immediately tailgating me as if they've had their manhood stripped away - hilarious!

@@nile9o no clue, never had it on a reliable dyno. I'd be absolutely shocked if it put 200 to the wheels. I run a fairly conservative tune from speedmotive, a turbo smart wastegate actuator, catless downpipe, NGK packs and plugs, and a homemade cowl intake. Then just some cheapo Megan coilovers (was gonna do rear swaybar and chassis bracing before coils but the stock struts gave out first). Ain't winning any drag races, but the lift-off oversteer, especially with the stiffer springs and dampers, is an absolute blast. Quite nimble on good summer tires, and an absolute monster in the snow with some blizzaks. I've put it through the paces in some rallycross and autocross events, and it certainly holds its own in those environments. Typical Fiat chintzy plastics and whatnot inside, but the engine has a forged crank and con rods from the factory, and handles a substantial amount of abuse.

Really good to see these finally getting loved. I daily drove one for 5 years and put 105k on it with literally 0 issues. Got made fun of and mocked at every car meet I ever went to and just had a smug grin thinking on the inside “These idiots have no idea what theyre missing out on.’ Stock pirellis are shit, and build quality is meh at best but I regret selling it more than any other car. It is a bit stiff, small and noisy for a daily, especially if you have longer regular commutes. However, when it comes to the fun factor, and all of the key car enthusiast points like driving involvement, good noise, seat of your pants speed ( it is not a fast car ), and uniqueness, it’s the best hot hatch you can buy. They’re genuinely rare compared to your ST cars, GTI’s, BRZ’s, Miata’s etc., too. The right aftermarket air filter they make fun wooshi stutu noises, stiffer valve springs add a ton of power, and with those any decent tune can pull 200hp out of it easily, which is really where they should have been from factory. Simple bolt ons and some sticky rubber make this one of the most fun cars money can buy. And like I said, it’s not fast, but if you tune it right and use the powerband correctly, you WILL embarrass some unassuming arrogant owners of cars that you’d think would easily outperform these adorably angry little cars. Damnit I need another one.

When I moved, I fit a few bags AND 2 entire queen size bed frames in my Abarth for one of my trips. They're surprisingly roomy. I've also had a lot of passengers in the back that found it quite decent for short trips. Everything about the car is completely opposite of what it looks like. Roomy, loud, fairly quick, and a blast to drive. I was scared to buy mine, as it has always been one of those dream garage cars, and I wasn't sure if I'd be disappointed. But I love it way more than I even expected. Well... it's in the shop right now for some work. That's the one downside lmao

And I put literally everything on it. Every mod available except bigger turbo. Intercooler, full exhaust, tune, intake, full suspension, light weight underdrive pully, the throttle controller to make the throttle more sensitive, blow off valve, turbo wastegate, better coil packs (which made a HUGE difference), short throw shifter, seat delete, I even bought the blacked out lights all around! SMH I'll get another one soon...but 2015+ since those years and up they put a better wastegate stock from the factory.

As a former 500 Abarth owner, I loved driving it when it ran. Unfortunately it spent much more time on jack stands in my garage than on the road. Also, as fun as they are in stock form, an intake and tune really liven them up. I took mine to the Dragon a few times and it's one of the most fun cars I've driven there.

What were the issues you ended up having with it mechanically?
@cell172
@cell172 2 жыл бұрын
@@TedwardDrives The variable valve timing (Multiair) is the largest weakness for the car. It has lots of small oil passages that get clogged very easily and cause running issues. I changed the oil every 3k miles at most and still had constant misfire issues especially when it was cold outside. The multiair brick is not serviceable and costs $4k from Fiat just for the part itself. There were other issues that were constant problems as well. The upper strut mounts wear out about every 30k miles. They're cheap and easy to replace but it's still a pain. The interior plastics get brittle after a few years and crack. It's a shame because the car was a riot to drive especially on track. I agree that I wish it had a 6-speed but I still managed ~36mpg highway. Fun fact, my lowest average mpg for a tank was 4.8 at a track day at Summit Point.
@DDd-hr6mz
@DDd-hr6mz 2 жыл бұрын
@@cell172 With that oil change frequency, your engine should have easily gone past 100,000 miles. Generally, these cars are quite sturdy if you don't beat them. Racing ANY car doesn't do much for longevity.
@cell172
@cell172 2 жыл бұрын
@@DDd-hr6mz I’ve owned and raced several other cars with twice that oil change interval and no running issues. The bottom end of the 1.4L is very strong, but the Multiair is too finicky for a cheap car. When I sold mine it had 80k miles and desperately needed the Multiair replaced. That would’ve cost me nearly $6k to do and that’s all the car was worth anyway so I sold it.

I had one of these as a daily driver for a while. It's an absolute blast to drive. Some Eibach springs and a short throw shifter really made for a delightful experience. It was fun to mash the throttle and slam through some gears and still keep the speed under the limit. And that exhaust was sublime. They are 100% straight piped from factory and it made my life difficult when I went to resell it because no shop would believe me and it would fail safety. Eventually had to go to an actual Mopar dealership to do it. I had a clean one with 40,000km and a spent a silly amount of money to keep it running. They’re so much fun but build quality is terrible and was ultimately why I swapped for a GTI
