I recently noticed that Fjallraven has synthetic down jackets. I would like to try one out up here in northern Minnesota during the winter. I was recently looking to pick up another backpack and was considering buying the Keb72 but couldn't find any video reviews online. Now that I have seen you hugging yours, I am wondering if my initial impression was correct, and it is as good a pack as I thought that it would be. I guess that I will have to be satisfied with my new Osprey Kestrel for now. Oh well, you live, and you learn. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us. Happy New Year to you and your son my friend.

Hi there Ted, i also have the Keb 72 i live in a very dry dessert area. Most of the time places don’t have a lot of water so hiking with 4L-6L of water for a 2day adventure is quite normal. Nevertheless the pack gets extremely heavy i did weighed mine to almost 50-60lb now in winter ( winter is a heavy game anyways) My question is do you know from your personal experience what is the birchwood load tolerance. Or if you ever felt that after so much load the frame was gonna snap out?

Fantastiskt bra serie; innehåll, sceneri, tempo etc etc.
@TedWeirum3 жыл бұрын

Greetings from the west coast of Canada! Planning a trek like this definitely takes careful planning and you seem to have done really well. For myself, I'm heading out for a 1200 km (2-month) trek in the Rocky Mountains, and most of it is above the treeline. The longest stretch without being able to restock is about 2 weeks in the mountains. You did this 1000 km trek a year ago using the Keb 72. I was curious if you found that more than sufficient or if you wished you had a bit more room? I'm trying to decide if I will be getting the Keb 72 or Kajka 85 L pack. ** Oh, and yes, about the tights...I normally wouldn't get those, but you inspired me to get a pair. I've already tried them a couple of times here and I have to say that I am amazed at how comfortable they are 🙃

Also i miss the abillity to open Up the big compartment room, compared to the keb being topfilled.

Are you somewhat sponsored or get discount on these products - you mentioned REAL food? It's first time I see so much Fjällräven and heavy equipment in a gear video! So is it because of sponsor, discount, personal choice or money?
@TedWeirum2 жыл бұрын
I’ve been doing this for 5 years now, I love Fjällräven, it’s the brand I started out using and by time the saw what I was about and they wanted to help me, So short answer is personal choice. I reached out to REAL and asked them if they were interested in helping out and after some talks they decided to help me, of course I’m very glad for that help as it was an essential part of my adventure! :) I hear all the time that I use heavy gear, I get what people when and yes if you just see the numbers it sure adds up, but for me it’s also quality, environmental, design and comfort, everything I use is probably heavier than most other things but I feel very comfortable using it and I know I can trust my gear if things turn sideways, that’s more important to me! Very good question! :)

Alltså jävlar vad grejer! 😳 Men klart… Är man ute i 30 (?) dagar så blir det en del. En sak jag tänkt på nu när jag följt din kanal i över ett år är: hur kommer det sig att din engelska är så bra?
@TedWeirum3 жыл бұрын

@@TedWeirum oh that solves my puzzle, haha. I was searching on google why men use tampon, it gives me a result saying US army used to give tampon to soldiers to use as cotton when they are wounded by gunshot. This only confused me more. Thanks for letting me know the real reason. LOL

is not about you is about the people around you. I see mother truckers wearing these in very public parks swinging their tiny bits to everyone and by everyone I mean specifically kids, yes out in the backcountry is fine once you are by yourself or with someone willing to see your shit all the way to the summit by all means. Yet whoever uses these in public go fuck yourself. Like i always say you can do whatever you want as long as you are not bothering anyone else.

The full pack are what the Norwegian Armed Forces use, and what Real started with. Soldiers get three packs, breakfast, lunch and dinner - the latter are interchangeable. Breakfast is musli with either chocolate or berries, and *loaded* with sugar, way too sweet for me. The food quality is awesome, and the bars are top notch. Hell, even the coffee is good! We bring one lunch/dinner pack each as backups, even on short trips. The green packs are about 20% larger than the orange ones - add a roll, and we share an orange one as a quick meal on longer roadtrips.
@TedWeirum2 жыл бұрын
great input brother! I believed we used something similar in the Swedish armed forces as well! :)
