Outstanding explanation of what Nanotechnology is; why we need to develop it and WHY we as adults need to help kids turn ON to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics or STEM. Educators always have an acronym, so I guess its Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics! Thank you Dr. Wade Adams.

00:22 Exploring the surprising strengths of materials in the nanoworld. 02:01 Designing materials with both lightweight and high strength is challenging. 03:53 Micro lattices are the world's lightest material. 05:24 Nano materials can exhibit surprising strength and weakness. 07:06 Reducing wall thickness of ceramic nanotruss by a factor of five makes it stronger and able to recover after deformation. 08:42 Nanomaterials and architectural constituents allow new material classes with unprecedented properties 10:17 Nanotrusses offer lightweight mechanical stability and high surface area for various technological applications. 11:55 Nanomaterials can be scaled up and utilized in various shapes and forms.

Watch from 16:55 to 17:45, He says if we cover our planet with that much space of solar panels, we would have more than enough energy. Why don't we put the panels on the dessert. Almost a third of Earth is desert, then we would have more energy that we can imagine.

One of the biggest applications of nano-technology will be for paralyzed people. Think about it. There are only a few million paralyzed people in the entire USA but, while there aren't that many SCI (Spinal Cord Injury) cases, people get paralyzed EVERY YEAR! Unfortunately, even as we get advanced, unless we develop some unbreakable titanium spinal cords, people will always get into some sort of accidents every year in the future & nanotechnology will continue to be an effective tool.

The answer to that problem is actually Stem Cell Research. The problem with what Youre talking about is the batteries weraring out.Let's not have "band aid"so-called" Cures". Of course You would probably respond to this with a meaninless insult that has nothing to do with Nanotech or Biology.Probably some meainingless insult joke about My Mother.

i think people will figure out how to clean their water pretty quickly--maybe not--sure doesn't seem to be the case in third world countries..or "the south" as my shitty textbook refers to them-however that may be less offensive..but it shouldn't be complicated..i guess i would blame it on shitty education or something..but even just making a series of reynold's wrap sheets across a set of poles (above/below) each other allows rain water to filter to an acceptable drinking level
