Peter Gärdenfors is a professor of cognitive science at the University of Lund, Sweden. He received his PhD from Lund University in 1974. Internationally, he is one of Sweden's most notable philosophers and has had visiting positions at and receweived many awards from numerous universities and institutions all over the world. Gärdenfors has published more than 250 articles in various journals and books, e.g. "How Homo Became Sapiens: On the Evolution of Thinking" 2003, and "The Dynamics of Thought" 2005.
This talk is focusing on student motivation, and in particular internal motivation: curiosity and the lust of understanding.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, selforganized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x=independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. *
