I am so glad this program is available. My daughter was terribly bullied in school. She attends a county virtual school

yeah too bad you dont actuallly get to go at your own pace at all because teachers will threaten to withdrawl you because all they care about is the money. When you pay a teacher per passing student, they just want you to churn out work not actually understand the material. more like florida virtual factory.

They do that in all schools in general I always do the work but never learn or know what its used for. Atleast I got time to look at it by myself

FLEX is what she is describing!! With FULL TIME - FLVS these course schedules, teacher's availablity, etc. is NOT true. NOT possible with FULL TIME - FLVS, NOR with county Virtual schools. This presentation is VERY misleading and confusing for parents.

As a parent I have found this program to be effective and efficient with great results. Communication was a key in this process and the design of the program is tailor made for the student. The instructor was informed on every aspect of this program and attentive to student concerns, needs and time constraints. It was apparent that the objective was for the student to gain confidence in what they were learning and achieve success through learning. This is a free program that is available to students year-round.

as a student i disagree this doesn't work with most, there is too many distractions and me, being in flvs find it difficult to concentrate.

Thank you, Zane for your comment. I'm sorry to hear that you experience difficulty. My child was very fortunate with the particular program offered and has gone on to college. It wasn't 100% without issue, however. There were distractions and a few scheduling conflicts but, we just had to push on and try out what worked best. At one point we had to restrict phone calls and visitors but, it was very much worth it all. Best wishes! :)

What Julie Young describes here sounds like FLVS FLEX, NOT FLVS full time. NOT at all! But, not even FLVS FLEX teachers will get in touch with the student on the weekends, nor on the "holidays." (365 days a year/7 days a week?) The freedom and accessibility she describes here is nothing like the reality of FLVS full time, which is public school on line, with all the public school requirements, as opposed to the FLVS FLEX, which does have the freedom to schedule, sign up, set the assignment pace, etc. exactly how the parents want to, and exactly how the student needs. There are HUGE differences between FLVS full time and FLVS FLEX, except the class credits are exactly the SAME.

Why does FLVS personnel NOT explain the true, exact differences between FLEX & the REST-FULL TIME, county Virtual, etc.? Does it have anything to do with Federal Funding for public school (FULL TIME FLVS) students?

finally somebody who agrees with me. FLVS is crap. they say you work at your own pace but that's bs cause they always say get 3-4 assignments done each week or they'll withdraw you. i also hate that every time i need to call my teachers or do a stupid dba or something, they don't answer the phone and they're probably busy but those stupid ass teachers should have like assistants and stuff to answer cause i get really mad because i have to wait and i want to finish fast. and i am so tired of sitting in my room all day doing this crap. it's garbage. i want to go back to regular school. the work in flvs is boring that you can be distracted by something else and you fall behind. and i didn't even choose to do this. i had to because my dad had a family situation and i had to go live with my mom and she put me in this.

***** i know. i don't understand why they you have to do segment 1 and 2 of every class and each course is designed to take 20 weeks. so if you have like 6 classes(segment 2 included) that's 120 right there. they can't expect you to finish every class in so little time. i also don't understand why you have to take electives. the only classes that matter are the core classes. i get pissed when i have to do electives. and also the fact that you have to be stuck at home every day. fuck that. i'll take regular school any day.

dont agree with you guys never had a problem of them not picking up and yes my father wanted me to do my 6 classes all at one it does not work So i had to change it i do 3 classes complete segemnt 1 in 16 weeks which i failed and segment 2 in 16 weeks failed also then do the same with other classes flvs flex has a lot of problems and should change but from what i heard full time is pretty awesome i do flex

As educators, I don't understand how they don't pay attention to the fact that students need face-to-face communication with their peers and teachers. The most effective way to learn something is through communication and real-life practice, not reading off a screen. It's like trying to learn to swim or cook just by reading about it. Also, who knows these students won't opt for getting their college degree through an online program and struggle when they find job where they would work physically and interact with other people? They may end up finding an online job, which I am not opposed to, but will they marry someone online too? Just because they are way too anxious to have physical relations with others? I have been a teacher myself for the past 8 years, and I use a lot of technology in class, but my students are interacting with each other constantly as they are working on a task. I am also taking an online Spanish class myself, which I had to because the school didn't offer any real-classroom courses. To be honest, I hate it because I should be communicating in Spanish with the other students and the teacher in class, and I am not able to. Now, how am I supposed to speak to a Spanish speaker when I haven't practiced it in class? My point is technology should be included in class, but it shouldn't the medium of education where a student is deprived of communication skills which is a basic human necessity for both self and societal growth.

Things have changed now with Pandemic too. Even work is virtual
@erayaktas1832

@@DJKhal21 Well, people who work virtually were already working on their computers in the office. Nothing has changed much for them. My students are dying to get back to the classroom. Teaching virtually even for three hours causes fatigue, and decreases teacher efficiency. Also, it highly impacts classroom management. I'm also teaching hybrid classes, where I have to check on the students on zoom, and in the classroom simultaneously. Yup, it's great.

flvs sucks so much. i hate they somehow convinced the school board to require students to take at least one flvs class to graduate. the county pays for the classes so of course they want as many students as possible taking their shitty virtual education. digusting
