I love and appreciate the 'go for it' attitude he established at such a young age. That entrepreneurial attitude is inspiring and man, I'd love to work at the Johnny Cupcakes HQ. Being surrounded by all that creativity and drive would make me so happy!

Nice! I sold candy also when I was 13. When I was 15 I upgraded to electronics(MP3s, headphones etc) But I stole all of my product from large chains so I was guaranteed to profit on everything. Now I'm 30 with no businesses, no job, wondering if I'm going to lose my house. Funny how the world works. XD I've never heard of this brand til today but props on the creative entrepreneurship brother.

My passion is definitely writing but I'm not sure how to get it out to people. I've sold a couple on amazon, I've been researching marketing and done a couple facebook ads but I want to start out with the right way to do it and I obviously don't have much money. I'd also like to start a subscription box company (I've just started looking into it) but I'm not sure if it's possible. I'm good at coming up with ideas but they change so often, I have to learn to follow through. Plus I'm an introvert and being "out there" doesn't come easily to me. I don't have the energy to go constantly like some entrepreneurs. You don't just need passion and hard work to succeed, I see by this video; you need something unique and a good marketing strategy. I'd like to succeed eventually....but right now I just keep plodding away....

Hi johnny, i have 2 questions. 1. Are kids nowadays allowed to sell things at school that is not fund raising? 2. When you collaborate with hello kitty and other cartoons, do you have to pay them to get legal permission?
@JohnnyCupcakes

1.) It all depends on the school! Some schools with strong studies in entrepreneurship might have a program that encourages it. You could also offer to donate a percentage to the school or a charity. 2.) With many brands, like Hello Kitty, we collaborate and acquire licensing agreements where they make a percentage of our sales. Sometimes we also release limited edition, light hearted parodies. They may pull inspiration or pay homage to one thing, but it is clear that it is a Johnny Cupcakes t-shirt, thus not confusing consumers.

Yea, that wasn't cool. He obviously knows nothing about the culture and associates it with rebellion or irresponsibility. Very typical.
