I lost my Mother to sepsis in 2010 . It started as a skin affection which eventually got into her blood . The worst part of it was when it got into her brain which caused hallucinations. I felt I lost her before she died . We thought she had psoriasis but the Dematologist explained it wasn't symptomatic with that so it was having her blood gases taken which confirmed the sepsis . Finally her organs closed down. My heart bleeds for anyone who is suffering with this debilitating illness.

I had sepsis shock in November 2024. I had emergency surgery for removal of abscess. The only symptom was serious drop in blood pressure. I was fine, fortunately went to hospital again. More of antibiotics was required for safety. I have no after effects. I am not sure if my SLE response assisted my recovery. Together, all necessary supplements were given. I also heal very fast. I believed I would recover. So far so good. I did not take any prescribed meds from neurologist, psychiatrist, or Rheumatologist. I am allergic to most drug. One has to take charge of ones own health, act immediately if you feel soothing wrong. I must admit you think you staring death in the face. I wish all other survivors well.

Wonderful talk! My mother passed from septic shock on December 5th, 2019 (in Phoenix, AZ, USA). After obtaining her chart records from the hospital I'm quite sure she had sepsis upon arrival in the evening, but they ignored any antibiotic treatment, did not monitor her vitals from midnight through 8am, and by the time the shift change came at that time, she was put on sepsis protocol and was dead by 11:30am. It's been devastating to our large family. I really appreciate your talk, especially the clinical aspect in regards to glucose metabolism and urine output. Going back and looking at my mom's records they did not measure her lactate until the morning when it was 9, and by then it was too late. I am going to make it the rest of my life's work to help stop this horrific cause of death and make sepsis awareness become mainstream. Thank you again.

I made inappropriate statements to my daughter. When she repeated to her husband (MD), the ambulance was called. Thankfully I ended up at Mayo. With my medical knowledge, watching all info on monitor, I knew!!!! BP was70/?. After 4 days released. Calling it my bonus time. Biggest problem I have is a slight personality adjustment. Now on 3 years post event.

Just how many few people saw this eye opening speech shows just how silent this killer really is. Appreciate the talk. I find myself coming to it after learning how Covid 19 and sepsis is connected.

How is covid19 & sepsis connected?
@paulmorgan7917
@paulmorgan7917 3 жыл бұрын
@@privateaccountfor1252 Severe CoVID19 that leads to multiple organ failure and death is basically viral sepsis, with the victim's immune system reacting inappropriately to the viral infection. In less severe cases we are seeing quite a number of people being affected with "long CoVID", which is essentially a variant of what's been termed "post sepsis syndrome". So yes, CoVID - like any other infection - can lead to sepsis.

Sorry, friend. My friend is in the hospital still... I am glad you were able to survive it. I know it might be something very personal, but i'd like to ask. When you finally made out of it and talked to your family, was there anything you wished your family and friends understood or anything you wanted in general? (Besides feeling better of course) I am trying to prepare for when my friend makes it out, she had a 15 minute cardiac arrest, so idk how much she will be able to comunicate, I just wanna be there for her u know...

My sister died from (mennicotiginseptisemia); unsure of spelling at 9months old...this was 70years ago. How were they able to diagnose then ??? I wonder after seeing this talk. Very informative. Ty
@paulmorgan7917

Hi Maryann, so sorry that you lost your sister to a truly horrible disease. The diagnosis of "meningococcal septicaemia" depends on a clinical picture, the findings from a sample of cerebrospinal fluid obtained from a lumbar puncture and from blood cultures. I don't know what investigations were available in the 1950s, sorry. However, the clinical picture is regarded as classical, so that would likely have been a major part of the diagnostic process.
