A speech that will leave you with many questions to ask yourself.
Own your life!
Life doesn't get any easier. You are getting stronger! Master Shi Heng Yi (释恒義) is the headmaster of the Shaolin Temple Europe (歐洲少林寺) and takes over in this function the physical as well as the mental training of the novices, disciples and master students of the monastery in Otterberg / Germany.
His goal and endeavor is not only to explain and convey theoretical principles in an understandable way, but above all to make this knowledge practical and tangible in daily life, and usable for people.
For more than 30 years, Master Shi Heng Yi has been studying and practicing the interaction between mind and body. His strength is the ability to smoothly combine this knowledge with physical exercises and to practice Martial art -Kung Fu and Qi Gong. He has an academic background but he prefers to live at the Shaolin Temple Europe, Monastery located in Otterberg, Germany. Since 2010 he has been taking care of the settlement and he personifies the sustainable development and spreading the Shaolin culture and philosophy. As a contemporary monk, Master Yi holds a smartphone in the folds of his clothes as he sees no contradiction between living together with ancient knowledge and high technology. “The universal law of being successful and happy at the same time means finding the balance”, says master Yi. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Translate to English please: Ага, конечно.

Most of us do man... a lot of people who you didn't hear about (or haven't hear about). Maybe even your co-workers. Go through a lot. Pure grind and pain of everyday life. At the end, we don't know what is going on in another life, another person, what kind of internal "demons" this person is fighting through, or what kind of personal problems are in their lives. We never do. All we can do is our best, that sometimes we notice that, in the other person, that maybe something is wrong there, or the person needs help. But in most cases... we won't. We have our own "demons" to fight with, our day to day struggles. But I bet that guy would. He would notice it. Straight away. And he also would have been there for us at that point. Edit: usual stuff > grammar/spelling.

One thing I keep learning from munks and even fictional characters like dumbledore or gandalf, is that they give their advice in such a mystic and simple manner, that allows the receiver to think for themselves rather than getting the answer right away. I've found that even speaking in riddles or asking questions rather than giving an answer can be a really great thing when giving advice.

Started exercising with this brother about two years ago when I stumbled upon his KZbin channel. Mind you, I was 65, female, and was in the midst of a major emotional crisis at that time. But my life had been one of athleticism since my youth, so I went for it. It was DIFFICULT!! But you know what? I kid you not. Within two weeks of constantly losing my balance, holding positions that I never thought I had the strength to do anymore, and just continuing to show up, there was a physical, mental and emotional shift in me. I knew that I had found what I'd been searching for. I LOVE working with this Master. ❤

Yeah, so is the... present. As most of us think about past, what could have been, or the next day, the future. Who trully lives in the present? As life is just a bunch of short "moments of time" or "short moments IN time", right now, in the present. Such simple concept(s), yet so difficult to achieve, as most of us is not conditioned to do so.

"Too busy with their body, too busy with activity to be depressed" I can attest to this because of my job. When I am at work, I am usually in the best mindset. I tend to forget bad things going on in my life, such as bad grades, getting over a girl, your family at home, whatever it may be. It still occupies my mind at work sometimes, but often, since I am working with my hands digging holes, carrying heavy things, moving stuff, or installing things in the ground, I am a bit more at ease.

This one left a different feeling, compared to the first talk. I don't know if Master Shi reads any comments, probably not, cause there are too many... But I'd like to thank him for the talk he gave us. This was a great talk, and he is a great speaker. I'm just a guy from Russia, but I'd also like to further share what I think on the matter of the missing link. Care and discipline take a lot of energy. I've been feeling lately, that our energy is only that much, for every one of those 8 billion human beings. Each is given their own natural amount of daily/weekly/monthly/yearly energy. Then we have the mentioned choice. It is also my observation, that we don't always realize the total expenditure and where exactly does it go. How much of that energy is taken by what we do over the day? It's not easy to track, since we are talking about psychic energy, not physical. If you are out of physical energy, you muscles can not move. If you are out of psychic energy, you thoughts can not move and you are left with your default state. Which may happen to be... Depression. Or apathy. Depending on how you were brought up and how much of that sweet care you've received. Meditation and physical excersize may (and will) help you change the default state and give you a solid ground for your life. But. If you find energy for meditation and excercize. If you struggle to find it, then maybe you have already exchanged that energy for something else. Maybe something you don't actually need? Maybe. Just maybe, it so happened that you'd been shown ways to trade your energy, that are far away from being optimal or even useful to you? It is not your fault, but it is now your responsibility to notice this kind of thing, since you do already own your life, even if you do not fully accept this fact yet.

can related, have been realising it more and more recently until this video brought to that sort of topic. i have been really empty recently, being at the default setting of myself these days, i was really thinking of getting energy from some where else, and that thing was, to go out and meet people, just simply doing things, like the Master Shi said. and i did, which this video really confirmed about it, as well as what you said. Great speech. After I came across Shi Heng Yi's Videos almost 3 years ago I started practicing the Ba Duan Jin (8 Brocades Exercise) daily at home and it helped me to balance physically and mentally, change parts of my life, helped as a routine through tough times, strengthened me during good times. And it activated anchient wisdom, which is stored in our bodies. A few months ago I stopped with this exercise. I had to and wanted to adjust my routine, because of body issues and because my body asked me to activate a different kind of energy. So I switched to something totally different - succesfully. It now slowly came to an end. And for 2 days ago I kept hearing "Ba Duan Jin" first thing after waking up. So I started again with great joy and kept some of the routine from the past months 😀 What a treat. I love the intelligence of our bodies ❤️

Absolutely amazing. It’s a mystery to me why the Asian civilization never conquered the world because these people are so far ahead of everyone else by a long shot. They have a calm, confident, inner peace, but at the same time they have a very powerful presence about themselves. Everything that they do, they eat, they think, they practice, all has purpose. And the purpose is self development, what a remarkable man this gentleman is. We can learn so much from him.

He never conquered the world because he conquered himself which makes him the true king of the world.

I’m a 35 yo mum of two, and I have been listening to sadhguru for nearly 5 years, I have met him, and have done inner engineering in Bangalore India, but as of the past two weeks I have finally sat down or stood up to really listen and put into practice what these great masters are trying to enlighten us about. It might sound a little silly and I know some Shaolin warriors eat meat, but I want to follow the other school of Shaolin warriors who eat vegetarian, so I have decided to eat that way in 2023, and hopefully beyond. It’s so hard to always remember what you deem the truth or the way at that moment of listening, or coming face to face with an epiphany, realisation, aha moment, but we cannot give up. We must remember as the Master said, success is accepting that there is failure all the way. No matter how many times we muck up, let’s get back up again. In the spirit ofKorean and Japanese, Fighting ❤ or Buen Camino (if you know 😉) may the year of the rabbit reward you o’ brave soul 🎉

@Sherseo - scary thing is? All of that has been known for ages. Donald Hoffman, John Archibald Wheeler, James Glattfelder, Seth Lloyd, Eduardo Kastrup... (yeah, Kastrup is good in modern age, very good in fact). Also, helps to read a bit of something from a "classic philosophy", sort of Jung or even Joseph Campbell, Edward Edinger, Gary Lachman - and get familiar with "archetypes", and myths. Plus the usual "suspects" of a classic philosophy and old stories: Plato, Socrates, Aristotle, Confucius, Homer or even Marcus Aurelius or Hypatia (or Cicero, as his observations in "The Nature of Gods" as spot on, and are relevant to this day). Then move to something like research done by: Peter Fenwick, Pim van Lommel, or Ian Stevenson books, or even Tom Shroder book (kind of easy to digest view of the research done by Ian Stevenson). As that is opening a new chapter, still connected with research regarding something like a consciousness and what exactly reality is. And that is an eye opening stuff, especially Fenwick, with the research of "what happens when you die", and his youtube interview: "What Really Happens When You Die | Peter Fenwick's Studies of End-of-Life-Phenomena", as Fenwick did research at various hospitals, hospices, talking to professional nurses, doctors and also patients and their families. Pim van Lommel have done similar work. At the end, we are much more than just a physical body, in a physical universe, and there is a lot of that hs is saying, that has been known for a long time. It is just most of the so called "Western" civilization forgotten about it, or should I say "hasn't cared about" or "doesn't care about it" anymore. Too bad it is becoming the same for the other nations too now, all about greed, money and egos, and the next year stock market price, while the whole ecosystems are dying in the name of greed. Sometimes it is a pleasure to listen to talks like that, but also sad to see that is has been known for a long time, it is just we partly forgotten it, or simply don't care anymore. And since Cicero time, nothing has really changed that much regarding the "human nature".
