I noticed this video received quite a negative reception (seen by the comments below). I think most people misunderstood his point- he wasn't saying that only those who cross their Ts high can be leaders, but rather he is saying to look within your handwriting to notice positive attributes within you that can 1) help you understand yourself better and 2) lead successfully by exploiting those positive qualities. This is unlike horoscopes, however, since it is true that distinct personalities write in different ways. Someone who is quite shy and soft-spoken will usually write in a much less intense and dark (ink wise) manner than a more dominant, confident individual. People reflect their personalities via virtually all they do- whether it is writing, speaking, or even simply lying still. It is not pseudoscience or gibberish, but rather part of an entire field of its own- Psychology...

People tend to have a handwriting that is similar to someone around them. People also unconsciously copy other people's handwriting. How you represent symbols on paper has absolutely nothing to do with your personality. People who are physically stronger tend to write with thicker markings than people who are not as strong. But physical strength and personality atr two different things

Yeah, especially the random sample at the end. He made up some things based on random letters. Asked the guy to stand up, asked his job, said non-specific things that all people would like said about them and without a response asked him to sit down. 16:00 looks to me like a guy who doesn't think he's pulled it off yet and is waiting for the soothing applause. Watts was a preacher who studied Zen Buddhism and then left the ministry and promoted the lessons he learned in a way that was easier to understand from a western point of view. The quote itself, as often happens with Zen teachings, is as simple and literal as you choose to make it. Everything you do, and the way in which you do it, reveals something of your character and of your intentions. I commented the quote because it would follow that handwriting reveals just as much as your choice of words

Many of the comments seem to dismiss what he is saying as non-scientific, but years ago I read a few books on handwriting analysis that provided a detailed description of the theory illustrated through hundreds of examples. Handwriting analysis is essentially a recognition that personality characteristics exhibit themselves through our writing style just as they do through how we walk, talk, gesture, etc. Analyze enough handwriting samples and common patterns emerge that appear to have a strong correlation with personality traits. While it is compelling to think that a person's signature alone can accurately illustrate these traits, signatures are often stylized and practiced to have a certain 'look', so a larger sample of a person's handwriting is typically required for any sort of accurate analysis. At it's root, handwriting analysis is pattern matching. I wouldn't doubt that computer algorithms already exist in this area. I suppose the only problem is that very few people actually write these days, but I would bet that analysis of how we hit the keys as we type would reveal more about us than we'd like to think.

Actually, theories and hypotheses are two different things. Anyway, I get your point, correlation does not necessary implies law, but it does imply an underlying mechanic. Of course a high T or a simple O do not necessary means much, but a style of writing surely implies what the writer enjoys their writing looks like - and utterly their personality.

They are all papers published in respected peer-reviewed journals such as Perceptual and Motor Skills, Neuropsychologia etc. Any researcher should have access to them through ResearchGate etc. The quackwatch article by Beyerstein is what I would call heavily biased. Criticisms of his "review" of graphology has been written by psychologists and handwriting psychologists such as Dr. Teut Wallner. I would like to refer you to 'The Beyerstein Book: A Critical Examination' by forensic handwriting expert Marcel Matley. It is clear that Beyerstein is highly biased and has blatantly ignored several supporting studies.

TEDx is independently organized and is only related to the official TED talks through name and general guidance, however the content of the speeches is entirely up to the organizers of the TEDx event (TEDx can be hosted by a group of students or it could be hosted by an art gallery hostess in new york). That's why it doesn't meet your normal TED standards.

I doubt signatures are a good representation for a person's regular handwriting. Signatures are the only place I write in cursive, so I'm out of the picture. Even if someone regularly writes in cursive, it becomes very hasty while writing signatures, especially with check and legal papers. Not to mention there are plenty of people who develop a unique style for their signatures, but stay more practical everywhere else.

Grasping at little pieces of clues to finding another persons personality, it may not be true or accurate, but it does give you confidence after hearing this. He said IF you have this in your signature or that then your a leader, smart or cautious. Doesn't matter if it's really true or not, what matter is that fact that you can motivated, maybe even a little happy, that you have those personality. You might be thinking that fake hope is bad and just pointless... But it can lead you to somewhere that you may not have even to do if you didn't have that 'fake' hope. Thanks for reading.

He knows his stuff on the topic, but I give him extra points because I only heard one verbal pause during his speech. The best speakers eliminate UHs and UMs from their speaking, because they care about the impression they leave their audience with.

My signature changes as I grow mentally, I can not deny hand writing does not define personality, I know wherever my heart is in which place, my signature change. That could also indicate creativity as you regonise yourself changes so is the next thing that people have an impression of you without seeing you first is your signature. Leaders are often creative people, deep thinkers and most likely are intuitive. I also agreed with him on the T, I don't know about the other example such as the O and W, although I have it in my signature, I just never felt anything strongly about it, but I know my T means exactly what he saids in this clip. I'm a big dreamer and quite confident in myself to achieve in anything I set myself to. When I did my signature or sometime in my writing, my T has always have a big long line across, and whenever I did that, I felt like I had a strong personality. Which is very true to that too. So I don't doubt this man, he also speaks with so much integrity, not everything are scientific but rather intuitive, you can't deny intuition, we all has it but some people just don't listen to themselves. What a great talk, I loved it!

TheSafehavin yeah. He may have talked a lot and he presented himself like he can't be wrong, but overall i get the psychology behind handwriting. When I write in cursive i always go back to put a dot above my 'i' and it's really attention to detail.

I learnt from an early age to print, it wasn't till my parents moved us interstate from New South Wales to Queensland Australia that I was made to write in cursive. But I had learnt from the start in grade one about writing on a 45 degree angle our teacher said it was a sign of creativity and intelligence and success. That was when I was 6 years old. I latter met a fellow when I was in my twenties he was studying to become a hand writing expert. HE analysed my hand writing but left before he told me anything. That was almost forty years ago, and I have wondered ever since if knowing what his analysis was would it have made a difference to my life.

Like me E's are actually backward 3's my A's are written the same way it is in typing with the curve on top my T's always go up and loop back down with it extending straight down then I start the rest of the word. I naturally write that way and have to think about it to write letters normal

Perhaps ambidextrous:) I suspect I would be left handed without the pressures of coforming as a youngster since I disk many things left handed. When I try to write with my left hand it comes out decently! With practice I'm sure I could easily write left handed. I sometimes draw with both hands as well :)

This is bogus. Graphology takes course over several natural handwriting samples due to external influences such as emotions, illness, writing utensil, stationary, etc. And to be analyzing a hasty signatures of all things kills me. I still remember a fellow who struck a horizontal line for his signature. There's very little that can be accurately extracted from them.

Honestly, I love the hell out of this. I've loved graphology (hand writing analysis) since I was a kid. I had a notebook I would have people write notes in to later analyse. I think it's fascinating - and slightly less insane than astrology. Graphology is actually used in business and cases. Astrology is yet to be.

Good insight. I have also watched that sometimes when people write on a paper,the words do not touch the line below or above. Normally, it has to touch the line below. Instead, it hangs in between the lines.Sometimes,it is because there is a hindrance which is making them to "hang in the air" (not to touch the line below). It mostly could be a spiritual hindrance.

I've always been of the opinion that handwriting does talk to the traits of a person. I have a specialized signature; many people do. I know how creative I am and he hit it right on the mark with me.
