Roboticist Andrea Thomaz is poised and articulate. She should be commended for tenaciously maintaining a straight face while engaging the unsightly gadget.

I know you’re being sarcastic but Star Wars is told from a Galaxies perspective that had far more advanced tech than us, a galaxy that probably if we go by our calendar probably had the tech to build a Dyson Sphere, and floating cities in the 20th Century.

Why does the robot have a kids voice if they want to use it for manual labor? 🤔
@Syklonus5 жыл бұрын
To maintain a sense that there is no danger. It's a fine line between recognisable and relatable to creepy and frightening. If it does cross over to the latter then at least our primal instincts tell us that it's only a child and can be easily reasoned with or persuaded. The most important thing with robots is knowing and feeling that you are in control. A child's voice just helps maintain that feeling.

because it's cool!!!!....then we realize we don't have skills without the robots. just like now people can't live in the wild for a month without freaking out or dying. Technology has its place but we must understand the gains we make from AI are not human gains...we will be left in the dust at the rates computers process data.

Uncanny valley makes this unusable. Why would you want one robot to do everything when you can have many specific robots?! A roomba for vacuuming, a dishwasher for dishes, an automatic stove etc. It makes the company more money and the consumer gets the cool factor.

Why why does this robot have to have a child like voice? Not only is this creepy looking but to add more creepiness they add the kid voice. Maybe humans would except the robot at home helping out but it's the fact that they insist on putting faces on them. remove the face and leave it as what it is A ROBOT/MACHINE

@BearPugh15 жыл бұрын
THE real interesting thing about this is women really know that they over talk and don't listen to what a 'man' is saying, is because both the programmer (woman) and programed robot (woman) are BOTH woman! Please see 1 Corinthians 14:33-35. The man that knows his Bible should be worshipped by his woman, amen. Btw, chapter 7 works also with those same verses. God says, I don't dispute. AAAmen.

the Romans discovered steam power 2 millennia ago but they thought it was a waste of money as slaves were cheaper. even if really crude, I think we should still try and develop stuff rather than just forget about it, only for people needing to rediscover the same thing almost 1800 years later
