If money were no object, what would you do? Who would you become? Creativity demands patience, and yet we often give up on our dreams because we are too impatient to see them through. We owe it to ourselves to strive for personal fulfillment; we need to pursue our passions and be persistently patient, all the while realizing that we desire and what we seek after is what we will ultimately become. #weseek
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.*

I started running after money and after I got it I started seeking passion and to my surprise the same tool/skill that generated me money was where my passion is. And since then I never looked back. Now I can say I can live comfortable without a job. Not that I am busting but just trying to show that sometimes you don't have to look far. It doesn't mean if you hate your boss then your chosen career is on the line.

+David Futama I know that everyones passion and path is unique to them but I am curious to hear what yours is if you dont mind sharing. I think there is always something that we can learn from each other so while your passion and the way you pursued it may not be for me, I may still be able to learn something from your story.

+mrkthmn It all started with trying to be financially independent and during that process I bought myself few properties for passive income. It then went to the first business and now I have three businesses running. Thereafter I started to look for what I really love doing in life. That's when I found that helping people is my passion. Job creation and helping those that can not help them self; involving myself in various organisations that help poor communities to survive. To my surprise the whole thing started when my businesses started to pick up and could runs in my absents. Now what started as career aspirations was actually my true passion or could assist to discover my passion. Hope this will help.

Nice work, Jeff. On a related note, has anyone ever read "So Good They Can't Ignore You," by Cal Newport?

Well, you have to be smart about your passion. Follow your passion. That's what the gurus say. I'm telling my own subscribers that this is bad advice. I have seen many living in their mid forties with no skills, no resources and no future because they did follow this mantra. Swell Charles, give up on your dreams you say? No. I'm saying to be smart about it. You don't just pick a job that you would do for free and that is usually the arts. Like Stephen King--he could have retired in the 1980s but still writes--because he would write anyway. But most artists don't make the big time. So if you have this burning passion that is in the small percentage of making it, by all means do that---on the side. But keep a day job and that job can be a cousin of what you would do for free. For example, maybe you are an oil paint artist at heart. But your day job is a graphic designer. Or you are that actor. You day job is teaching high school drama--or advance to teach college drama. See? You do the next best thing to "your passion" that pays the bills decently. That's how you negotiate the thing you would do for free where there is risk vs quitting your day job to leap off the cliff not knowing if the water is below. Hope this helps someone---Charles
