Whats happening there, is a 'child' making what adults find hard, look easy... & I'm talking about the depth of character as much as technique there. Very VERY inspiring how wonderful to see :)

I broke down into tears while watching this. I've always been extremely and unhealthily hard on myself especially when it came to dancing because I loved it so much that I wanted to do my absolute best at it. My parents and everyone around me agreed that I was too negative and hard on myself but I didn't listen and it always lead to hating myself as a ballerina. This has inspired me to just dance. Dance because I love it and can't live without it. Dance for no one other than myself. Juliet Doherty is one of my favourite dancers (like ever) and I'm so glad I watched this.

Vicky Robinson you have no idea how much I relate to this. I've been the same way ever since earlier this semester at a conservatoire in southeast asia and ive been trying to find ways around it. Hope youre doing amazing now though you deserve to feel weightless! Dance is supposed to make you happy

Truly inspiring. I have been dancing for 14 years now, and I am constantly judging my own dancing. I have now realized that this is preventing me from reaching my full potential. I can be great if I allow myself to be, and I cannot be my own critic. Juliet Doherty has a beautiful message that can affect anyone, not just dancers. And, of course, her talent is exquisite.

Juliet, I just stumbled upon this and am so proud of where you are now. I'll never forget how much you inspired me even when you were so young as Clara on our tour, and you and your mom were my saving grace constantly with Kyra. You are a magnificent person and dancer and I will never forget you. P.S. You'll have to meet Kyra and Ferrara (who I was pregnant with during the season) now that they have grown up a bit! Best wishes for your future success! xoxo

i agree. that's what makes ballet an art form, not a sport. though it may be much more difficult, in my opinion of course ;), it is not a sport and should not be compared from one dancer to the next because unlike, for example, soccer is played all the same, dance is different. there are so many different ideas about what is perceived as beautiful in the dance world, and that's something that makes it very difficult because there is such a variety.

The music is from swan lake, dying swan
@LemonadeLaura5 жыл бұрын
It's very similar :) but it's Chopin - Nocturne No.20 in C-Sharp. And technically, The Dying Swan was originally only a solo dance choreographed by Mikhail Fokine to Camille Saint-Saëns's Le Cygne from Le Carnaval des Animaux as a variation for the lovely Anna Pavlova. But it ended up heavily influencing adaptions of Swan Lake. It's honestly my favorite piece. The only ballet that ever made me cry.

There needs to be a HUmanitarian endeavor to create this kind of life for all little girls. And without suffering death, and mayhem first. But if you compare Michaela De Prince and Juliet Doherty after suffering from a trauma, which do you think will continue under such circumstances. Easy lives = weakness.
