Exactly 100 years ago, Albert Einstein laid down the foundations of quantum mechanics. After a century of curiosity, the field is revolutionised with a new understanding that information can be encoded into quantum particles. Particles - which can exist in many places at once, travel through walls and behave as a whole even when separated - enable us to build extremely powerful computers and make unconditional information security possible. No organisation, group or individual has immunity from hackers, but, by using the laws of quantum physics, we can secure our online communication, transactions and activities against all attempts to steal our personal data and most sensitive secrets, with guaranteed future proof security.
Yameng Cao is a post-doctoral fellow at Lancaster University and obtained his PhD on Quantum Computing.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

Hated when you sign up in social media websites and they ask to use your contact list for when you first sign in. Then later on, they send you a notification that says "people you may know", then they show you a few people that they copied from your contact list like as if you would say to yourself "wow, I do know these people!

Well i like the way he gave critical information, and promoted his company together that was smart work. Nd thanku for telling something about quantum, i am looking for something , from which i can start (from basics) and then continue forward, if u may pls suggest.

I am also looking for something that I can start from the very basics of information on the quantum physics and move up from there. I appreciate if anyone here could guide my search.

everyone gives almost same explanation about what happens during a quantum entanglement but no one explains what sort of interaction happens between those objects in a quantum state such that behaviour of one dictates the other object's behaviour

Could quantum entanglement be used to create a "faster than light" communication system for interstellar travel?

No, because although a paired particle on the one side of the universe would be Instantly "decided" when it's pair on the other side of the universe is obversed, there would be know way of knowing that is has been decided or what "side of the coin" (quantum spin) is has been decided on without observing it yourself, and therefore giving it a solution. You can't check if it has been "decided" or not without forcing it to decide, and therefore although its pair, no matter how far away it is, would be "decided", the information could not travel faster than the speed of light and it is not practical.

The company must access the code, or the key must at some point be varied. If this occurs, that means it's hackable.

This quantum key wouldn't work, as you wouldn't be able to detect whether or not the quantum key has been used or "changed" without measuring it yourself, therefore making it become certain in the process. Having a so called "quantum alarm" sound when the paired key is used or observed would invalidate the claim that no information can travel faster than the speed of light, since the alarm would have to sound the exact instance that the paired key is observed. It would definitely become decided when it's pair is observed, but there is no way of knowing that from your side without forcing it to become decided itself.

Chris All info is measured, and then a certain percent (say 15%) is compared to what was sent. That is when the alarm would sound. If no "listening" is detected -- meaning no measurements were evidenced in transit --only then does the other 85% get used to describe the proper encryption key.

So the hackers who hacked eBay's 140 million accounts I'm assuming basically got authorized access to eBay's SQL databases and downloaded then lol. So let's say the average username is 10 characters long, and the average password is 10 characters long, then each username and password pair would take up at least 20 bytes of space. 140 million hacked accounts means 140 million * 20 bytes of data, or 2800MB of data, or just 2.8GB of data. A mobile phone can contain that much data. The problem for hackers is if they want to make use of the data, they'd have to look through 140 million accounts to find ones which they want to log into. That would involve a lot of datamining, and they'd either have to hire someone, or put in the effort themselves. I'm also surprised WordPress isn't listed as a significant internet service in his slide with logos of popular online services. It's becoming a huge emerging company.

It's hard to take anything you say seriously when you make so many exaggerated, incorrect, salesman statements. "nobody will ever have to worry about hackers again" lol. you know that's not true You don't need to lie so much, quantum crypto is cool
