The power of intention is the driving force that guides your life forward. Discover how being clear on what you helps you to achieve your goals.
Vanessa Wideski is the executive director of The Low Entropy Foundation. She lives in Coquitlam, BC with her husband and their blended family of four children. Travelling extensively and following her passion, Vanessa is a voracious learner who shares her love for community building through volunteerism and advocacy work. This Ted talk demonstrates what is possible if we stop making excuses; and be honest about who were are & what we want from our life. I know that giving up or embracing cynicism is a lot easier and safer than putting yourself on the line, and truly giving everything you are capable of. What an inspiring life story. 🙂

I have always had hard time with the word "intention"... there's some subtle difference between intention - wants - and wishes. I know that in that subtle difference lies the power to create the reality we want. Wants feel like an urge coming from basic instincts, wishes feel like a far dream, intentions feel like a moment where you align with your soul's purpose. I "wish" there was a simple formula to reach that allusive "intention" state but probably doesn't get simpler than Vanessa's share.. clarity + action. Clarity coming from aligning with our soul purpose, and taking action which is overcoming the fear that will try to hold us back. Thank you Vanessa for sharing and inspiring us to reclaim our birthright powers.

Vanessa: I met you when you were starting Conscious Connections and I got inspired right away. Your vision, back then, same as today: to change the world by starting with yourself first. And I watched and learned, but mostly was so grateful for having met you. There are many people who overcome adversity and conquer ‘the world.’ Yet, I don’t know many people who achieve their dreams and commit so wholeheartedly to bring change to their community, in spite of the obstacles and hard efforts it takes. You have walked the talk Vanessa, so many times, sharing your stories of love and those of heartache too, making us feel that we belonged to a community, and that the community belonged to us. Community for you, means a tangible place we can call HOME; where the single parent, the lonely elderly, the struggling child/teen, the sick, the minority, the underprivileged, the disabled, the hopeless, the ones who still believe and the ones who gave up believing, the ones run by fear, and those coming from love, get altogether to share, heal, grow and give back. You know what? I've recently was barefooted and sat under the tree as my shelter. I felt miserable and oops was full of drugs. No one loved me and every living being on my path humiliated me. I felt once so miserable that I wanted just this world to be a better and kinder place. I was under the tree the other day and just heard someone calling my name. That was my mother's father's sister's brother. He got closer to me and asked me: What do you want? Then he left. And I started to ask myself: what do I want? And I figured out that I wanted something more comfortable, than the tree I was sitting under. And the same moment I had a phone call, and there was my best friend's friend and she offered a comfortable room for me. I thought "wow, that's crazy, but what else do I want?' And I realised that I wanted financial freedom. And as I was heading to the best friend's friend's room I found a million dollar lottery ticked. And you know what? I won million dollars. So I decided to buy a cake for my best friend's friend while I was going to her place. I thought: "Wow! That's fantastic! What else do I want?" And I realised that I wanted to help people to make their wants come true. And I decided to make a business and all my workers came to me the exact moment. And I'm now standing in front of you being the greatest manifester and I want you to buy something from me, for example one of the courses I've got for you. You have to learn how to manifest and you have to pay for it. But I started manifesting just after one simple question from my mother's father's sister's brother "what do you want?". And if you are still hesitating while deciding to buy one of my products, just watch me being so successful standing here on the TED stage and talking to many people after being so miserable and crashed. You'd definitely better buy one of my products and you will become as successful as me, or you can just donate and feel yourself a good girl/boy. Amen

Great message. This is not what I expected though. This is more about setting a clear goal and getting after it. I was thinking it was going to be about setting intention for manifesting what you intend to happen.
