Oud Live Performance | Hazem Shaheen | TEDxCairo

Hazem Shaheen is an Egyptian musician born in Alexandria. He graduated in 1999 from The Higher Institute for Arabic Music. He is also one of the first graduates of The Arabic Oud House, founded by Nasseer Shamma, in 2002. He taught Oud at The Arabic Oud House for 5 years and then at The Cairo Opera House where he currently works. He is a leading and founding member of the band "Eskenderella" which performs Egyptian heritage music of Sayed Darwish and El Sheikh Imam, as well as their own songs, composed by himself and written by prominent Egyptian poets including Fouad Haddad, Nguib shehab El Din, Amin Haddad and Ahmed Haddad.
Hazem was awarded the first price as "The Best Oud Player in the Arab World" in the International Oud Competition in Beirut sponsored by the Catholic University in 2002. He published his first album "Al Aysh wal Malh" in 2006 with "Masar" band and has recently published his first solo album, "Things that I miss" or "Hagat Wahshany"

@Visionare Hello my Friend I tried many kinds of tea I would recommend a tea from Sri Lanka ( not a special brand ) Their Tea has a special taste Make sure it is not made in a tea bag I would recommend steamed is the way to go for preparation. Thanks, enjoy!

In Arabic music, there are specific and well defined tunes, called "Makams", meaning scales. He started with Makam Nahawand till 4:40 then an Arabic Sonata, called Things I Miss, and finished with Makam Rast from 11:30, which is my absolute favorite Makam.

@@seifhelal3974 This does NOT answer the question at all. The question, to repeat, is what are the notes did he tune his oud to? There are more than one "arabic tuning" of the Oud and some people (like myself in the past) make up their own tuning.
