Amazing seriously flawless. I love that she wants to help people. Especially others to understand the addiction of cravings. On top of that describes to replace certain words instead of cigarette. I'm not a cigarette smoker, every now and then I would have one, I vaped constantly and I have EPILEPSY. I drank every now and then, but today I am finally READY to quit. If you can go one day or even 30 minutes to one hour without smoking, you can do it, you're not alone, it's never too late. I haven't smoked in 2 hours maybe even 3 (time flies), but I already feel freaking great. Don't hurt yourself, don't harm yourself. This is a great strategy to persevere, not just wisdom. Keep going!! Thank you.

A lot of the 'depression' is one's interpretation of the withdrawal symptoms. I quit five weeks ago (30year habit), and yesterday I had a fairly bad day (subdued mood, didn't enjoy an evening out that i had been looking forward to for ages etc). But kept reminding myself its just temporary. Today woke up feeling completely different, so pleased that I didn't allow a temporary dip in mood to become a spiral of negative thoughts and bring me down

I started smoking around 6 years back at 25yrs old due to my lifestyle(moving to a new city for work). Before this, I was too productive and healthy by having good habits (sports, eating healthy, working hard without any boredom, and also, keeping my mind and body together). During these 6yrs, I didn't feel myself - I was instantly getting rewards by smoking and taking things easy (I just don't want this lifestyle choice anymore, I want to be like an athlete that I used to be and energetic) I have many things to do in my environment, so gonna work on it each 1by1 and get a dopamine. My life is good and grateful for everything - it's just that I don't want a stimulant... So, I'm gonna take a decision as Nasia said "Personal Potential - (Identity, Emotions, and Beliefs)" and QUIT!!! - I will keep updating this thread with my progress, wish me luck!

Because of this Ted talk it was really easy to quit smoking. Even on my first day I only felt happy en relieved instead of horrible with cravings. I even took a couple of beers on the first day because I immediately felt that 'it' worked for me:D I smoked from 14 until 33 years, 25 sigarettes a day and I never tried to quit before. Im smoke free since May 19th 2020 and I thank u Nasia Davos. U changed my life and I thank u for that!

its just been an endless loop for me, quitting and then feeling proud for choosing to stop, then the next day i wake up with immediate morning cravings, and nothing else matters- i convince myself that i enjoy it, or if something pushes me over the edge i give in because i believe “it will make me feel better” but after i give in i feel so guilty, which then leads to more cigarettes. I need to stop now, because i know that truly feeling good is not having to rely on a substance and having amazing physical health. I hope that my next attempt is successful and pray i find the discipline. 🙏 wish me luck 🍀

I applied this speech to my addiction to sugar. The hardest part is truly seeing yourself as someone who doesn’t eat sugar and to believe it’s possible to stop eating it. Every time I go to a restaurant I’m going to struggle with the temptation to order dessert. The same applies any time I go to a cafe, ride by an ice cream store, etc.
@shawniethomas92003 жыл бұрын
This is sooo aplicable to other bad habits!🤔 Especially the part about believing in the possibility and seeing myself as a non-smoker. I am just starting to apply these ideas and perspectives!🙏 🙏🙏

I stopped smoking for nearly 8 years and had a full blown relapse for close to 4 months now. I started a job and while I do not want to put the entire blame on the work aspect; I do believe that it was that reason I felt the need to smoke again. I quit that job and I need to quit smoking now. Sounds odd, but I hate smoking and I feel sick now. I feel depressed now as well due to my relapse. This was very informative and I hope to be stopping again soon as I made an appointment to help with my journey.

Vanessa Berger what helps me stop when I did,was knowing the triggers to your smoking and then getting rid of those triggers or just being more aware of them. Also having a good reason to quit can help too. Try meditation 🧘♂️, it will make your more aware of your craving which helps in building discipline. Peace ✌🏽 and much love ❤️

After many tries to quit smoking (and then started again after few months), I found the most important part of success is very simple.... Love yourself. Value yourself and your body. Second pillar is... Let the emotions flow freely throughout and out of your body... Including negative ones. Those two points are crucial IMHO.

God spared my aunties legs cause she almost had to have them amputated from smoking 🚬 cigarettes for 46 yrs plus a new medication helped cause it. But all they did was put stints into her legs. I’ve been smoking 29yrs and I’m here watching this video while smoking the last few cigarettes I have left. I will be sharing this great advice and video with my auntie to help her as well as myself. She and I quit drinking 🍷 together, so we’re quitting smoking together. I’m ready for freedom and not being held bound to a strong hold called a cigarette. I’m going to replace my cigarettes with better thoughts, a pen, paper, and a guitar. Gaining new knowledge, writing songs, and learning to play the guitar after all of these years putting it off. Thanks so much for this video and the wisdom it brings me. And I pray it helps my auntie as well. Much love!!

I quit about 30 minutes ago. Impulsively. Just done with the pain in my chest, the insecurity when I try to sing. The reason I haven't stopped before is because I'm too afraid to be too intense, too much. That my emotions will flood all over the place. But its time to truly choose myself and my true self fully. Beginning is hard, its scary. I might even cry after writing this comment because it feels like letting go of a friend. But its a toxic friend who slowly drains and kills me. That makes me tear up every time I try to sing/develop my voice. Hurts my chest. Makes me feel clouded. I don't wanna be clouded or not fully here. I want to live fully. I want to be able to sing confidently and out loud. Its even scary to write this comment, because Ive said these things so many times to myself before and I'm still in therapy for my emotions. I need to do this for me. I really want to feel better and to be able to cope differently. No need to escape no more in this way.

Wow. I totally relate. Sometimes I have thought that I have developed habits to dull myself down because my energy is too much for the people in my life to handle. But that is so great! Because once we decide to live to our authentic selves, our potential that has been waiting is SO HUGE. I'm really happy that you have decided to live 🤘
