Professional diagnosis of a student’s problems is required to provide an accurate Individual Education Plan (IEP) to address their needs and assess what type of class setting would enable them to best achieve the goals set forth. Parental acknowledgement of their child’s disability, as well as cooperation with the diagnostic recommendations, is of paramount importance in helping the student to achieve maximum success, making their school years positive, happy and memorable ones. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by SSVM Institutions.
SWAMI LALITANANDA received her B.Sc. in Varying Exceptionalities from Southern Connecticut State University and M.Ed in Special Education for Emotionally Challenged from Florida Atlantic University in the USA. As a Teacher & Student Counsellor for many years, her “Teaching from the Heart” method combined nurturing and discipline, which enabled her students to gradually return to regular classes on a part-time to full-time basis. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Brought tears to my eyes. Great material!!!! I'm an aunt of 5 and need to show this clip to my dear babies moms. I mean if there's something they have absolutely nailed in parenting in my opinion it is that BOYS have all the same right to CRY as girls. It is devastating how so many people are brought up thinking that it is not only good, but necessary, to bottle up your negative emotions (=broadly the negative feeling of sadness). No wonder a male usually can be more explosive and physical when it comes to expressing anger, I think it is way too often due to all of all that suppressed emotion inside. I think there are physical/chemical reasons too for the way women and men are built a bit differently, but still. I see a LOT of in male violence as a consequence from the 'boys-don't-cry" -stylish upbringing.
