We are driven by many stereotypes when it goes to human interactions, work, and music. This talk presents the essence of music styles, their connection with stereo(types), presented by the composer.
JIMEK (Radzimir Dębski), ’87, composer, producer. JIMEK graduated Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. He also studied orchestration and film scoring at UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles). In 2012, JIMEK gained international recognition as the winner of Beyoncé’s ‘End of Time’ remix competition, beating over 3000 international contestants. The winning track was then released on Beyonce’s ‘4: The Remix ’. In 2017 he scored ‘Art of Loving’ for which he was awarded the Polish Film Academy Award for Best Score, and ‘Panic Attack’ for which he received the Komeda Grand Prix and the Young Cinema Award for Best Score and also Transatlantyk Grand Prix Award. In 2020 he continued working on music for two Netflix productions: “Nobody Sleeps In The Woods Tonight” and “Sexify”. He creates his own unique style of compositions and uses eclective approach to different styles of music. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

This resonated with me in so many ways. My mind works in a very similar way, and I've always felt a little crazy. This made me feel much better. So cool to hear from the Legend behind the music . Been watching from afar in the US for years. Thank you for this JIMEK.

Ingenious. How to squeeze so deeply drilling into the head own vision on how to keep up with the world into just 18 minutes... Great philosophy without posh phrases.. WOW

9:15 to 9:59 is just a great song! The different genres blend so well, and yet remain recognizable.

Most probably, this lecture expresses the feelings inside of us, without "a touch" of the system.

Terrific and thought provoking! Riveting! You open a window into the creative process. I just went to a Penderecki retrospective and listened to a lot of his music and his students’ music. Contemporary music is tough for a regular person to stomach for its chaos, but primarily for its lack of melody. Might explain the more people on stage than in the audience ratio🤪. Just a thought. Your mixing rap with the symphony orchestra is brilliant. Looking forward to seeing what concoction you will come up with next. Truly impressive. Keep at it!!!

That was great! i ve never fitted in to any sterotype and i always wondered why people let clasify themself and they identity so easly. Its sometimes lonly place to be, but i never felt bad about that, cause i felt like it was the only way be yourself and evetualy maybe by chance you will find like minded people. By the why why i am speaking english i am polish, dzięki JIMEK. fajnie jest wiedzieć, że są ludzie, którzy czują świat w podobny sposób do Ciebie
