The idea that memory might be an illusion is a fascinating concept that has gained attention in both psychological and philosophical circles. Memory, far from being a perfect recording of past events, is more of a reconstructive process. When we recall something, we are not simply replaying an exact representation of an experience, but instead, we are actively reconstructing it, often influenced by current emotions, biases, and external factors. Research has shown that memories can be surprisingly malleable. They can be distorted, altered, or even fabricated. For example, people may vividly recall details of events that never happened, or their memories may change over time as new information or suggestions are introduced. This phenomenon is known as the "misinformation effect," where external influences lead to alterations in the recollection of an event. Moreover, memory is influenced by both unconscious and conscious processes. Sometimes, we remember things that we want to remember and forget those we prefer to avoid. In some cases, repressed memories can resurface, while others may fade due to lack of use or emotional trauma. These variations in how memories are stored, retrieved, and altered point to the complexity of the process, suggesting that memory is not as reliable as we might believe. In conclusion, while memory plays a crucial role in how we understand ourselves and the world around us, it can be misleading and even deceptive at times. Rather than being an accurate record of the past, memory is better understood as a flexible, sometimes unreliable tool for making sense of our experiences. This challenges the notion of memory as a stable and truthful reflection of reality, making us reconsider how we trust our recollections and the nature of personal experience itself.

Research tells us we remember what we pay attention to. We forget what we don't pay attention to. Makes sense!

I don't think she was forcing that smile. I think she was happy to be on the stage talking about something she's passionate about.

I always dare to question all my memories. Especially because of both my diagnosis of full-blown false-memory syndrome and my lifelong sensitivity to the Mandela Effect. Thank you so much, Julia, for reminding us all that questioning our memories is quite okay.

I think that her main message is that our memories are so malleable that it’s all the more realistic to base ourselves on the now instead of the past. I know this to be true having met some people from my past who seem to remember me differently. Specifically in better ways that can make me question my own memories of them that were otherwise upsetting. It’s an obvious relief if it encourages us to finally let go of some painful memories. There’s also retro-causality which means that via the Law of Intention we can change the past within reason.

I've found heaps of times that people have completely different memories of events. When my son died all 4 adults present had different versions of what they were doing and where etc'. But in the everyday life, think about how many times a couple disagree, both thinking they are remembering right.

I completely understand what she’s talking about, but it’s easy for me to separate false memories from reality. And the fact she is trying to make something hard from it by asking -“is it real memories or no? How might you know?”, well it’s strange

I watch one of her videos where she had made the statement you can't remember anything before the age of two and a half that it is impossible well she is absolutely one hundred percent wrong. I remember when I was about nine months old I was standing in my crib and I remember exact words my dad said to my mother and I remember exactly where my mother was standing in the kitchen I could almost tell you exactly what time of the day it was according to the position of the sun so I wouldn't believe everything that this person says she's got some really good points but she made a statement that she should have thought about before she even said it.

I don’t think she’s talking so much about traumatic memories being false tho; she starts off by talking about **positive** memories being false (the good ‘ol days; making AmeriKKKa white again) but yes, why is it that people never dare question when someone claims they had a great childhood and family relations but the second you mention anything questionable about being a child, people deny your reality?
