Excellent talk. Thank you for highlighting the problem while also shining a ray of hope. My family avoids all single use, but sometimes things get slipped in when we aren't quick enough to refuse a spoon or fork here and there. Hopefully society can change 😊

I hope so, too! It is so challenging, especially when so much food is in plastic -- but doing what we can and sharing with others is the key, I think. Thanks for your comment!

Do glad I found this! Very informative and factual. Recently started going strawless after a buzzfeed video informed me they were not recyclable. Hadn’t heard about the styrofoam ban Ca is planning but I support it 10000%.

Yes straws are totally NOT the final answer, but simply an entry point for people to start thinking about their use of plastic. Thanks for commenting Jeff!

Its the mindset that we need to start somewhere. Straws, then bags, then water bottles, then your whole home. I now refuse all plastic and compost. I love it

Glass needs 1000+ deg c celcius to make. Plastic only need 200 deg C. And transporting glass is more expensive. What just happened there?

Only in Crazyfornia is this an issue. For the rest of us, We don't care about a damn straw or any of the other overly paranoid issues that seem to be rampant on the West Coast. I will say that the plastic six-pack rings work well for strangling turtles; you just have to catch them first.
