Beautiful presentation. When I visit memory cafes, I experience Dementia & Joy in the same room! Thanks for your wonderful work Beth

Beth, your presentation about Memory Cafes was truly inspirational! I have read some of the research done with memory cafes and I love the concept and the positive outcomes. Our Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease at 60 yrs old and lived with it for 24 years. She was at well known memory care facility and received amazing care from Doctors, Therapists and kind, loving caregivers for more than 10 years. In those 10 years I can honestly say it was a rare occasion that I experienced "Dementia & Joy" in the same room. While its too late for our Mom, my sister, brother and I are all close to the age range our Mom was diagnosed. With medical advancements as well as more consistent social interactions for people with memory disorders their quality of live seems to improve. If there is no cure...I would love to see the day when DEMENTIA and JOY are socially recognized ... not as a death sentence but a "different. acceptable, joyous was of living"!

Congratulations! Awesome presentation! Quotes from our local newspapers follow: "Our residents grew up watching ventriloquists on television, but, because of dementia, they may not remember. By helping them recall these cherished memories, we are keeping them connected to an important period in their lives and helping to improve their overall memory," says Hayley Bayen, program director for The Atrium at Drum Hill. "I'm amazed how every single time I bring out my Charlie McCarthy replica puppet, seniors recognize him and call out his name," says Driscoll, who has performed throughout New England, including at Foxwoods, Gillette Stadium and the Boston Convention Center. He also has taught music for many years. "For me it doesn't get much better than being able to bring joy to seniors while combining three of my passions-music, ventriloquism and education."

Very well done. I started a Memory Cafe in July 2019 and Beth described the atmosphere and concepts perfectly. Memory Cafes are definitely helpful in the community for those who need a place to go for support and a program that gives them joy. Thank you!

A thoughtful presentation that reminds all of us of the power of a Memory Cafe and the importance of recognizing that person that lives within all of us regardless of the disease.

*So sad, but anyone who has looked after a loved one with dementia will know how hard it is physically and mentally. My heart goes out to anyone/everyone affected by Alzheimer/Dementia. A huge shout out to any caregiver doing this alone! I feel your journey. I feel your pain because I've been there. My mom was also diagnosed in her 60s. Feeling absolutely shattered, heartbroken and drained , working with different physicians across the country with little or no improvement. I was exhausted and overwhelmed to look any further. Crying a lot through frustration, anger and despair, But today with the help of Homeocure Worldwide Natural Medicine, my mother is completely healthy and well again. I think we only need more support and sunlight to overcome this dreadful disease. Search for support regardless and don't stop until you get it. With Homeocure Worldwide treatment, there is hope, don't give up! contact them on their youtube channel for more info*
