it's so wholesome how Rapline of BTS paid their respects to the hip-hop legends from their early debut days, constantly speaking and highlighting them as role models. and then got to collab with some of them. like J-hope did with J-Cole. and now J-Cole is making a direct reference to BTS. it's such a full circle moment. I'm sure BTS rapline must be so proud for this shoutout, especially Hobi.

Once you get into Jin's stuff GameBoyy you should totally watch the BTS Guide by Taylor Mari it gives a bit of their story. In my opinion BTS transcends kpop, they are too much outside of the box artists to be contained by that label and always have been. Many BTS army like myself aren't even "kpop fans" cuz we checked out others out of curiosity and still didn't become fans of anyone else.

It’s so good to hear good rapping coming out again. You don’t need to talk about drugs, shooting peeps, gang wars, disrespecting women, etc. These guys prove it. Em & LL new song was 🔥 too. I had actually stopped listening to rap in the early 2000s because it just became garbage. BTS actually got me back into rap. They rapped their stories without all the crapola and proved it could still be good. They have had some great collabs with western rappers too. Love the back and forth shout outs between JCole & BTS for years. BTS Hip Hop Phile shouting out all their idol in Hip Hop/Rap & Jhope shouting out JCole. The Jhope Collab with JCole in Hope on the Street. Now JCole shouting out BTS in this collab. Suga & JuiceWrld as well as others. Yo J. Cole's shout out to BTS took me by surprise too but in a good way! It hits when you know songs like 'Born Singer', 'Hip Hop Phile' and the samples that RM have done in his 1st mixtape. Also, 'On The Street' by J-hope ft. J. Cole... Nah image you getting to know your muse, then making a collab with him and 2 years later he's respecting and giving your team a shout-out in one of his songs... Let me tell you a fact. Nobody is doing it like BTS in K-pop. Nobody can pull numbers like BTS. To put it simply, K-pop needs BTS, BTS doesn’t need k-pop. In fact, the k-pop label has proven to be harmful for them. For example - BTS rap line are always boxed in the category of k-pop even when their genre is hip hop. Had they been labelled properly, their music would’ve reached the general public more easily. That’s why you didn’t come across the rap songs of BTS & BTS rappers, because KZbin, Spotify etc. label them as k-pop and sets the algorithm accordingly. BTS needs to be freed from this k-pop tag.

This 💯 Kpop needs BTS but BTS don't need them. They go on a 2 yr hiatus because of mandatory military and the whole kpop industry is losing money right now, the only people willing to admit that out loud are financial analysts. The other companies would never admit they've been riding the BTS Wave, it has nothing to do with being kpop and it never has. They can splash all the fake headlines taking credit for something only BTS is achieving all they want like they been doing for years. But I think western artists are catching on when they do songs with other kpop groups and they don't get the numbers they were expecting or the longevity sustaining the song.
