Just a note, your 3.0 USB on your laptop doesn't have to be blue. not every 3.0 USB port is blue. As long as you see an SS (instead of the normal USB symbol) next to your USB port, it'll take 3.0. I have 2 ports on my laptop with this symbol and then a normal USB port without the SS next to it. I can confirm that this works in the USB port that has an SS next to it even though it isn't blue. I hope this helps anyone else.

@@mdunlocked1557 okay, make sure your In/Out are plugged into the right device. 1 for the game console and 1 for the tv. The USB part goes into the computer. make sure that that video property on OBS is set to the device recording your gameplay. So, find your video source, click it, and then click properties. Look at what the devices part says. To change it to your capture card, plug in the capture card. After that's plugged in, you can change the device to the capture card. You also need a separate "source" to record the gameplay audio.Hope this helps.

Hey! No worries - by default you just need the standard capture card, an hdmi cable and that’s it pretty much! Hello TeeChu! Thank you very much for this. As a first time stream from Switch this really helped a lot. I have a question, I followed all your sound tips however mine was echoing throughout the stream (the sound effects of the game sounds like im inside a cave or the bathroom). I experimented, what worked was when I turned "Desktop Audio" in advanced audio properties into "monitor only (mute output)." If I leave it in "monitor off" (like yours in the video), that's when the echoing happens. Is this good? or am I doing something wrong?
@TeeChu2 жыл бұрын
Hey! No worries - hmm that's a tricky one, usually it means there's another source playing somewhere (e.g. out of a TV at the same time etc) I would try setting the monitoring device to headphones and trying that way, ensuring that any other source is off (e.g. TV volume down low) - if your audio output is too close to your mic it may also cause a bit of echo too!

Also ensure you don't have your stream open etc in any tabs just incase!

@@TeeChu I think I discovered the problem. I stream directly from my switch, Switch > capture card > OBS. I don't have a TV in between. Although I already muted my browser stream, I can still hear it - the doubling / echo of my audio. Reading around in the OBS forums, I think the problem is OBS detects 2 audio sources - the capture card and my desktop. So when I turn my Audio Desktop setting to "monitor only (mute output)" all sounds my stream picks up is the one from the capture card. I hope I thought right though...

Had quite a time originally setting this up for switch, think i used a different method but found this video and it explains everything simplified and the audio is the trickiest part! One issue I don't think was mentioned is you need to use the proprietary usb C power adapter into the nintendo switch dock. I tried using other power sources for it (even stronger ones) and they would just give black screen (yet plugging into my usb c phone for example the capture card picked it up). Perhaps that's just my card. But thanks so much!

@TeeChu I'm having problems with the recording lagging. Could this be something yo do with the minecraft game on switch?
@TeeChu Жыл бұрын
@@jessicarogers2389 Hmm, tricky! Do you mean it comes out laggy / choppy in the recorded video file or are you streaming? Either way it's likely due to your card or settings I would check a few things: - If your card is USB3, make sure it's plugged into a USB3 port (often but not alway blue) - Try a different USB port in general - e.g. if plugged into the front of your PC currently, try the back etc. - Another thing to try is scale down your video slightly - go into Settings --> Video and reduce the resolution from 1920x1080 to something like 1280x720 and try re-recording. Quality won't be as super-crispy but you may get a better frame rate and overall quality! - If you're recording to your PC - make sure as many other apps as possible are closed as OBS can be pretty demanding! I would go into settings --> output --> output mode (change to Advanced) --> then go into the "recording" tab. From here try experiment with some of the settings - e.g. Rate Control, CPU usage etc. It's fiddly! I would recommend looking up other videos on "OBS Rate control" and "OBS recording settings" as I'm not 100% clued up on that myself - I use the following settings myself but can/does differ depending on setup: - Rate Control: CRF - CRF = 23 - Keyframe = 0 - CPU Usage Preset = superfast - Profile = high - Tune = none

Not long till ToTK :)

@@TeeChu Hello! Another question lol. Is there anyway to get rid of the screen tare (not sure if that is the right term but my video is split into 2 halves and one it a split second behind so it looks a little weird) Is there anyway around it? Thanks!

@@TeeChu one more thing, i have the hdmi in the capture card and switch however when i switch to hdmi on my screen it doesnt show up and switches back to my display port. does there have to be a second hdmi cable to plug into my monitor or have i gone wrong
@TeeChu11 ай бұрын
@@Alg0rhythym That's correct, yep! In order for this to work (from what I think you mean) you may need to look into an HDMI splitter - have a look at this vid, hopefully it's what you need! kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqG0pWqKf514mtk

Thanks for the video, but i have a problem. At 2:21, i dont have anything for an option for the devices. Switched many USB Ports, switched the hdmi-cable, the nintendo switch is working but i cant choose it as a source.. Any idea whats going on here and why i cant choose the devices? Maybe because i am using win11? Thanks for your time, Terry
@TeeChu Жыл бұрын
Hi Terry, weird! What do you get listed in the devices list in OBS? I know you've tried different USB ports, but a few things to check: 1) If the card is USB3, you need to use a USB3 port (often they are blue) to power it (worth checking) 2) Try going into Windows --> Settings --> Camera Privacy and make sure OBS can access the camera. Technically the capture card isn't a camera, but maybe classed as one by Windows 3) Double check all the cables from the dock/console into the capture card
@TerryManiac Жыл бұрын
@@TeeChu Hi and thanks for your answer. I dont get ANY device listed in that dropdown menu, thats why i am so confused. Yes, i am using usb3 port. and the device has been agnowledged from win11, at least it says there is an USB3-Capture device under the audio devices. Scratch it. While writing the next sentence i tried your second solution, meaning > Camera was off in my whole system, once i activated it > seems like its working. So yeah, that (hopefully) did it :) Thanks! (Maybe this will help other win11 user, dont turn off your cam completely!) Now i only need to look for the sound settings :D

Awesome! Glad you got it to work in the end - sound should hopefully work in a similar way, too! If not - make sure no headphones are plugged into the Switch!

2:22 I am having trouble getting this screen to appear, it does not let me choose my preferred capture card device (I am using a HD60S+ to try and stream my Nintendo Switch) What can I do to get that to appear? Or what am I doing wrong here? Is OBS Studio not picking up the capture card device? I've already tried closing in and out of OBS and turning my switch on first to see if that was the issue, but no dice...

Not that I know of, unfortunately! I guess a low-budget way could be using your phone camera to capture gameplay footage from your TV via the Twitch app, or something like that See how it goes and possibly look to grab a laptop or PC in the future! It'a a shame the Switch doesn't allow you to stream directly from the console

Hi, what if I have every connection plugged in but by sources / devices, "USB Video" doesn't show up?
@TeeChu3 жыл бұрын
Hmm - depending on the make of USB capture card it could be listed as something, else, what comes up when you select Video Capture Device? Also it might be your PC/laptop not having enough power for the capture card - I would try disconnecting other USB devices and just testing with the capture card and see!
