Teek vs. P99 (My Thoughts) - Everquest Project 1999

I started project Quarm a month ago. Kunark just came out on the 1st. It will go till PoP then have some custom content once that is old and stale. It has instances so you aren't at a spawn for 8 hours and someone else tags it before you. Unless you like doing that. Also items like manastone and jboots have increased drop rates and faster spawn timers. Its a server for someone who wants to get their epic but spend a quarter of the time getting it because the raid encounters are accessible

You picked a really good time to come back because of the July 4th bonus P99 is running right now. I recommend playing a higher level character like Dessius though to take advantage of the loot bonus. And the slow nature of EQ is one of the main reasons I love playing it. I love how I just finished killing all of the guards in East Freeport, and can now sit off to the side and go AFK and go outside to water my garden, feed my animals, and come back in 30 minutes and pick up where I left off and still feel like I'm making meaningful progress. I still actively play WoW and have enjoyed the fast paced nature of WoW MoP remix, but I can only take it in small bursts because of how exhausting and fast paced it is. With P99 you can basically be doing things around your room or office, and still have P99 up in the background slowly grinding away at your own convenience. There's even a few classes like Cleric that offer a semi AFK playstyle while in groups. I've literally been cleaning my room before while playing my Cleric, and just glancing over at the screen to see when the tank needs a heal every few minutes 🦊

It's weird cause just yesterday I was playing project quarm and during the extreme down time of medding, i said to myself "why don't I start closing my eyes and taking sole deep breaths while my character meds up?". Gave it a shot and it's an experience

I was a fairly dedicated player from 2000-2004, and decided to come back and give Teek a try. I share your feelings about Krono, and am concerned about the ephemeral nature of TLPs, but despite that, have been having an absolute blast. I think Teek has an excellent chance of making it to Live, and I’m looking forward to experiencing all the content I missed the past two decades, even if it’s at an accelerated pace.

My exact feeling as well. What makes me play Teek instead of P99 is the possibility of going further into the expansions. I already did almost everything I wanted to do in Classic and Kunark for now on Teek. On to the future :) My first goal is to play until Planes of Power. But I am really trying to stay for the long run, as long as I can.

i'm enjoying the freedom in p99. i've found my eru cleric is not kos to a lot of factions eg froglocks, sol goblins, pickclaw goblins. yesterday i went into runnyeye exploring and saw lord pickclaw who said i was insolent andshould bow before him for letting me stay then went to the bar to hang out with goblin patrons. i cant think of any other mmo that you can become friendly with the "bad guys" its really cool

I love EQ and want to play everyday but i just cant do it. Its just too much of a grind now im a dad and in my 40s, when im sat grinding at PC for 4 hours to get from 8 to 9 i just feel guilty im not playing with kids lol.

yeah i would feel the same if i was you. i am also in my 40s but my wife and i never ended up having kids. we tried just never happened. so i am in a different boat then you. but soon your kids will be old enough to play with you. that will be fun AF.

@@dlear85 Laz is fun. I ultimately had the same feelings about is as Dessius did. I think it is a fun break from the slow grind. But be ready to have to multibox 6 toons and use automation.

"Secrets - Today at 7:43 AM We have not given anyone but someone who reported a CSR abusd, and in return we awarded an out of era item, and the person in question asked us to delete it - we gave them a title instead. They deleted their character anyway. We don't ban people who complain. We do ban people who break the rules, and in some cases we extend that to clearly toxic folks."

I'm much more focused on making an enjoyable EQ experience. I make no illusion nor demand people address me a way. I just care that people play a cool game.

Assuming you play from super casual to somewhat hardcore, P99 is the way to go if you want to feel like your time wasn't wasted in the long run imho. Personally I've been making money on my druid for so many months now so I can start a sk as twinked as possible, and knowing I won't be left behind makes the grind a lot more rewarding, unlike Teek that seem to be closer to WoW than EQ when it comes to longevity, which I can only take Turtle WoW seriously since that server is probably the only one focused on the journey and not rushing to Naxx and moving on to the next "FrEsH server".

I go back to P99 Blue every once in a while, mostly for nostalgia. Did lots of raiding so haven't really cared to go back that often or play it for a long time.

I just started playing Everquest for free on the Vox server standard rules and you know what I discovered? low level dungeons like Blackburrow, Crushbone, and the like are not inhabited by low level mobs anymore, or at least not right now, they have high level mobs in them cause I stepped into the two I mentioned as a level 20 or so and was immediately decimated by a level 70+ something. it seems they changed this at least for the Vox server and it's pretty annoying.

you should come play on Quarm, we just got kunark, the population is rocking, tons of grouping going on, it's a great time to play and it's way better than any of the p99 servers

P99 had its race to the finish where the sleeper was ruined for every aspiring raider save for a couple elite guilds. Casual players will have a fine time on P99 but if you want any of the good stuff you have to join one of the top tier raiding guilds and have lots of time to kill. Teek has been fun so far, yes you have Krono hunters, but there have been a lot of groups shouting out for more in practically every zone I have been in. The PLers are what bother me and the high lvl farmers that take all the spots that casual players might enjoy getting actual xp from...

i think p99 is best, wish there was a new server coming out. I am currently playing tormax, teek was never an option for me... random loot rules are silly imo

None of the servers are the game we deserve, but Project99 is best overall. Quarm will have Luclin and PoP so that's trash. Too bad, because some of its changes are a better direction for the game.

I never got to play Luclin or PoP when it was current so it'll at least be a novel experience for me. p99 will always be nice for being the most authentic recreation

Luclin was my favorite expansion. For the first time in EQ you got to fight stuff other than dragons, giants and undead.

Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllyyy long winded way to say everything other than OG EQ sucks. And it does. So long as any of that shite masquerades as _New and Improved Everquest_ with, and this is my favorite, _Quality of Life,_ changes/add-ons, it will be shit, and I’ll die on that hill. It’s WoW or EOS, not EQ.
