Sometimes / what do the cops themselves tell people to do (if you see something say something and if you don't then you are just as guilty ) so by them not reporting there fellow officers then there guilty and before you say something stupid read this and then say what you have to say . You know if two people of color drive up to a store and one guy gets out goes in and gets a pop and a bag of chips and goes and robs the store and leaves and gets back in the car and leaves but the outside security camera sees the two guys there both going to prison . Even though only the one guy robed the store and the other guy doesn't know anything about it even if the robber says he did it on his own and the other guy doesn't have anything to do with it. Every community should have an independent investigative committee ran by the citizens to put police and local government corruption in check.
@OGjuancarlosbarragan
@OGjuancarlosbarragan 3 жыл бұрын
@@justinb864 This sounds good and all, but in reality it is a lot more complicated than assigning a community to such a committee. A big issue with this is how to define a community, size or population, type of people, and however else the community may represent. Participation may also be a problem in rural areas where less people feel obligated to take a part in doing the neighborly thing, and this may even fall into the neighborhood watch for places that have such a thing, not all of which are such a great thing as some are instead run by that one entitled neighbor. Aside from definition, privacy of committee members would also be a problem as the members could be threatened or other as they may become very popular among the community unless their identities are unknown yet not knowing who is policing the police is a bit problematic as the same people, maybe even family or friends could end up being a part of the committee and thus further continue the se abuse if they choose to protect whomever in this instance is serving the police. Your idea is a good one yet it will not work for everyone. The reason we know of what is happening in the video here is the camera in the living room to capture it, evidently, the communities where less surveillance is possible will be hindered by that fact of not having much to record the police. Otherwise, adding more cameras seems a bit scary as it will infringe the right to privacy. A lot to say here...

What does it take to hold police accountable for wrongdoings? Update 02/09/22: I got it. Instead of "Defunding The Police" what would help reduce "accidental" deaths from police actions is having all court settlements/payments come directly from the local police departments. Here in Brazil, even though we have very serious security problems, being one of the most violent countries of the world, a police officer or a security agent who do this kind of thing can be imediately quicked off from their corporation. Years ago, a group of cops invaded my home in search of weapons and drugs without an warrant, my mother was horrified at the moment, and then after finding nothing, they went to another houses, but they found nothing, because there weren't any weapons or drugs in any house to begin with, they just received an "false alarm" and acted at a whim in disacordance to the law. This is an example of incompetence, disrespect, and lack of moral and profissionality. These kind of individuals, by their actions, bring shame to the Security Forces in any country.

Now that most citizens have cell phone cameras and most of us Comcast users have security in our homes the cops are actually getting caught. I mean honestly what more could it take?

@@TheeCuteness that's a complicated answer in itself. To be clear cops have a very difficult job but this behavior has no excuse! Are all cops bad? No. The media doesnt like to show good cops cause that isnt ratings. Now on the other hand have minorities been abused by police officers for years!? Very much so. It's a climate among police officers that has to change! No one can change it but cops! Prosecutors work with cops so they are reluctant in prosecuting them because cops help them win cases. So the best thing we have now is a phone camera to help police the cops. It helps a bit but not as much as it should to change the ways, the culture, and the thinking of cops who assume minorities are guilty or up to no good. That has happened before, and the homeowners have been acquitted 98% of the time. Theres nothing to discern those men from intruders. Of course your home state plays a large part in this and you will almost certainly always have a target on your back afterwards but hey, gotta do what ya gotta do.

They've dangerous. Ask anyone who's ever trained police, most suffer from Cognitive Rigidity and feelings of inadequacy leading them to feel justified in any action they take & corruption of the law protects them. Everyone who doesn't have money to buy off the system should have cameras for their own protection, esp minorities (including all women).
