I used to live in Manassas, VA in the 1990's and then the demographics started changing LITERALLY for the worse by the late 1990's I did not even know if I was in America anymore so I moved. CRIME also went up 1000% from the early 1990's by the time I left in 1999. Damn shame because Manassas was a great place to live and have a family.

THIS culture is precisely WHY I LEFT WDC with my sons. As a mother of 6 brown young prince 2 who are now grown and living responsible lives. I have to thank GOD and take a bow for actively participating in my children’s lives and not being an enemy to their dad by encouraging their relationship although we didn’t work out. Getting married and presenting them with positive examples and experiences. So far I have 6 amazing, respectful, articulate, compassionate and thriving children who were born and raised in DC but when I sensed the deepening foolishness of the environment without excuse I took my children and headed for the mountains. We watch this segment every week as a reminder that we’ve done the RIGHT thing. I can tell you first hand that parents DON’T parent anymore. They’re just having babies and allowing the streets, video games and neglect train to them. SMH 🤦🏾‍♀️ praying for the people who are mere sheep amongst these wolves. @dixztube supportive staff. Safety is the top priority for the school. He, as an individual, didn't have many friends. but he has a girlfriend and a best friend. We support our students through anaylitics comprised of SEL, behaviors, attendance, and content. He (the shooter) has an IEP. He receives support through his school social worker and class teachers. Me being his Math teacher, I've supported him on the academic level, where the special education specialist supported him on various and specified elements of his educational development. It's a normal DC high school. With a thriving school culture filled with scholastics and achievements.

Why didn't the mother move out of DC? I left when my daughter who now is 33 and a Doctor with her PHD 28 years ago. I was raised in NE and went to Dunbar Senior High in NW. I now how 4 children and left and never came back. I was able to raise all my children in Calvert County with again one being a doctor, one studying law that is 20 and one son that is in college study technology. All my children are doing very well. DC isn't a place to raise children and I don't know why people stay knowing the level of killing and drugs in that area. My heart goes out to that mother who lost all three of her black sons to gun violence. This is a sad situation for that black mother but there are many more of these stories around the country. Black peoples leave these areas. Make a difference for your children. I did.

Its not the area it is the people themselves. If all the people from Anacostia move to Calvert then all the same issues will be in Calvert. The problem is the people not the area. It's a sick mentality that fuels it and the responsibility lies within the people. Children need parents who care and show a good example.
