Hi, Aaliyah. I have previously commented about your reaction to this song but there are a bit more I would like to say to you. You are nineteen this year (2024) and for sure still lots to pick up on on your journey. This is probably the ultimate of Lara's performances where you as a singer can draw so much from. Her breath control; her using and placement of vowels; the conversational parts of the song, the dynamics and different voice technics, her eye movements, facial expressions, her arms along with the rest of her body; even when it appears that she is smiling. All of these clearly part of her engagement with the lyrics, the story. This takes time to develop, as a serious student of opera if you haven't started yet, please do learn this from Lara. Perhaps if you could get on to her coaching classes online... Or, as you go about with your reaction videos, you might pick up on some other also brilliant coaches out there. Well done. Something I have noticed about Lara Fabian is how she prepares for a song. You can sometimes see the moment that she transitions into the "role" for the song. That also may be mirrored on the other end, where she leaves the role behind. Check out the end of this performance of Je Suis Malade. She takes a very long time to leave the role behind. That may be more moving than everything that happened during the song...

Yes, I agree with you, but there is not only her voice, her technical skills, there is her huge stage presence, her non-vocal expressivity. Her bodyly, her facial expression in adition of vocal capabilities make her what she really is. A lot of people, especially the younger ones concentrate on vocal qualities too much. Expression and stage presence is equally important. Yes, there are some singers, who are, maybe, technically better. I said maybe, because, normally we take vocal range as a measure of the quality. But that's not what real music is about. Her technical abilities with her expression, vocal and physical, makes her my favourite vocal performer. Ever!

AAliyah - so glad to find a young artist taking an interest in their art. Lara Fabian's performance Malade is one of the finest I have ever seen. She didn't just sing the song - she lived it in her performance. The song I'm Sick is inspired by a real heartache of Serge Lama, the story of a long secret relationship. In 1969, the singer met Michèle Potier in Chamonix. just a suggestion....when listening/doing a reaction....it would be better(my opinion) if you didn't cut the video off before its finished. Hi Aaliyah, firstly kudos for having an interest in older performers to learn from them. And because of that, I'd like to point out a serious mistake you made (sadly, most reactors do) : disregarding the key role of silence in expression. When a speaker/singer places a silent pause, they are not taking a break and suspending the performance, they are doing the opposite and enhancing the next thing they say. In the present case, at 5:09 of your video, you took the silence as your time to react, and missed how the following phrase "Cet amour me tue/this love is killing me" was being set as the pivot of the song. Keep singing!
