his one take is so much more impressive because you can really see how he does it, and some of the sustained notes he hits are truly inhuman, as is his capability to switch from highs to low in an instant... he's a true genius, and the song is just plain virtuoso too :)

The Charismatic Voice did a video with him where they stuck a camera down his throat to see his vocal folds and what was going on in a bunch of different vocal techniques he uses. It’s quite wild, especially when the technician says she’s never seen anything like it, and that nothing he is doing is doing any damage to his voice. Lorna Shore right now is peak deathcore, abd it’s always fun watching someone who doesn’t normally listen to this stuff resct to it.

Wonderful reaction. That's what my face looked like the first time I heard Will. I was never a fan of this type of vocal until I heard this song. Like you said, there is something about what he does between the breath control and the versatility and the sheer quantity of different colors he can get without using any clean vocals that is something I did not even know was possible. Always great to see people reacting to new things with an open mind and finding positive things to pick out even if it is not their particular cup of tea. Keep it up! I also recommend the one-take versions of him (Will Ramos) doing the Lorna Shore songs because it's even more impressive to see the breath control and his crazy level of relaxation in a live setting and without all the extra vocal layering.

So, to be fair, there is a lot of editing to this. Lots of layering to his voice, highs and lows mixed together to create a more "full" sound. Even to his extreme lows to sound all encompassing. Like his voice completely surrounds you. But make no mistake. That is his voice. While there may be lots of editing, its very minimal in the grand scheme of things. Just watch his one take playthrough and you'll understand. This man is a fucking legend through and through. Like many others have commented, check out The Charismatic Voice's video of the scope she shoved down his throat, very enlightening if you're with familiar throat biology.

The way Will Ramos is creating these sounds is by 2 different type of screams, one them is, like you guessed, coming from the false folds, also known as false chord screams, the other one is fry screams, the difference is mostly the amount of air going being pushed through, the fry scream uses much less air than the false chord. This is how he is able to hold his screams for so long, usually the breakdowns and fuller screams are false chords. And ofcourse there are sprt of sub categories between these 2 techniques like the difference between highs, mids and lows, then there are also gutterals, growls, tunnels and pig squeels wich you can all aply to the highs, mids or lows, and those can be applied to the fry screams or the false chord screams. Hope i explained the basics of metal screaming with this :)

In Will's case, we can be fairly confident in describing how he produces the wide array of harsh vocals he does because The Charismatic Voice asked Will Ramos if he would be willing to have his throat scoped while singing to further academic vocal research into harsh vocal technique. The findings showed that Will is able to contort his surpra-glottal vocal tract in various ways that causes different tissues and folds to vibrate to produce those distorted sounds. This included false folds in his low gutturals but also a bunch of other areas above that, especially in his high fry screams. The footage also showed that Will is able to produce all these sounds in a completely safe and healthy manner and there were no signs of undue stress or wear anywhere in his vocal mechanism. On top of that, Will is able to manipulate the shape of his vocal tract and mouth to modify the perceived pitch range of the different harsh vocals he can produce, and he has great breath support that allows him to project these sounds to a much greater extent that many can.

So yea the vocals are all Will, but they’re just layered to give em that extra umph 😂🤘🏻 and yea his one take shows him basically nailing the entire song no problem the whole way through. You should check out their newest single Cursed to Die or Into The Earth

Will is 28, he started screaming at 14, and is entirely self taught when it comes to screaming, he's taken a few clean singing vocal lessons just to improve his over all ability, technique, control, pitch, tone, projection and breath support but other than that he's just a self taught vocalist, if you wish to check out his singing he has a cover of Sleep Token - Hypnosis on his KZbin channel Will Ramos joined Lorna Shore in 2020 just as the Covid Pandemic began. The first song he featured on was To the Hellfire which was the lead single of the EP And I return to Nothingness, which was released in a month after To the Hellfire in August 2021. In total Will has featured on 6 Lorna Shore releases, 3 being on the And I return to Nothingness EP, the other 3 being singles from their upcoming album "Pain Remains" Those 6 songs are 1. To the Hellfire, their most popular song and it won best song of the year for metal 2. Of the Abyss 3. And I return to Nothingness (My personal favourite) 4. Sun//Eater 5. Into the Earth 6. Cursed to Die. He also did a cover of Chelsea Grin's recreant with Nik Nocturnal as a solo feature, and it's an awesome cover too. Will often gets the spotlight, but the other members of the band are just as incredible Austin (Drums) Adam (Guitarist with short hair) Moke (Bassist) and Andrew (Guitarist with long hair) are all insanely talented musicians. Lorna Shore have a live virtual concert freely available on KZbin on SiriusXM where they do a total of 6 songs, and I'd highly recommend it so you can hear a full concert live. The set list consists of the 3 songs from their EP and 3 other songs are from the album Immortal which featured a different singer who Will Ramos replaced. Those 3 songs are. 1. Death Portrait 2. King ov Deception 3. Immortal Honestly I'd recommend you listen to and react to everyone of their songs as they're all fantastic, that pretty much covers most information about Lorna Shore and Will

Where this song is absolutely incredible and a few sounds are in a league of their own when it comes to vocals, i'd recommend also checking out sun//eater as it's a dynamic masterpiece almost akin to the intensity shown in theaters and, in my humble opinion, opera as well

Have to say, i admire your willingness to listen to such filthy music (and i mean that in a good way - i love Lorna Shore haha). It takes a true appreciation of music but also a level of i guess.. idk.. musical maturity? It takes _something_ to not just shrivel up and dismiss it as "noise" like most people would. Respect! ✊️
