This track goes to prove that George Martin was the 5th Beatle. He wrote and played the high piano solo which is actually played 1 octave lower at half speed. When the speed was played faster, the octave jumped and the piano sounds almost like a muted harpsichord or a Rhodes piano. If you have Disney+ and you like The Beatles and song writing, I'd highly recommend Get Back. It's 9 hours long, split into 3x 3 hour films but to see some of their famous songs emerge before your eyes is amazing.

fun fact: Martin produced other bands, but never succeeded like with the Beatles. One famous band that he was the producer was America - a great band from de 70s. The 4 lads prom Liverpool were truly great composers that turns Martin better too. They could make music from other dimensions and Martin grow a lot as a producer too. Dude, this is regarded as one of the greatest love songs of all times. You have no idea how many weddings, receptions, ceremonies, Renewables, proposals, Etc this has been incorporated into. And it's shown up in tons of movies and so forth. One of John Lennon's greatest songs I believe. This whole album was fascinating because it was a huge pivotal album between there earlier years in their later years. It's it's fire. Everything on it is fascinating. But then all of their albums are just really really good. Each in their own way. They were constantly and rapidly evolving. And some of those parts of Abbey Road that you mentioned, oh my God that's some great material. And if you do decide to cover that, do your research first or asking here, because many of those are medleys and designed to run one into the other. And that's how all of us know them and you really can't break them apart. And have you really listened to everything on Magical Mystery Tour? I find that hard to believe. It's one of their albums that didn't do so well right at the time but for the Beatles that means it still did fantastically, but by the time I was listening to a lot in junior high and high school, I realized I loved every song on it very deeply. It's all really fascinating stuff. Revolver came after Rubber Soul and before the other stuff and so it's really also a huge transition album with tons of great material on it. Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is a freaking tour of force. It's just phenomenal.

One of the best love songs written by John Lennon. The harpsichord sound you hear in the break is actually a piano which is slowed down in the studio. I love seeing young people being shown how the Beatles really influenced music even today. Rubber Soul was a Renaissance album in that it showed the growth of the Beatles to write music which had more substance and also was the start of their experimentation in the studio.

This is a John Lennon song that he wrote right before his 25th Birthday and very mature song writing. This song is a classic as is "Rubber Soul" this Lp was the game changer for the band and popular music. They went from being a pop band to serious, thoughtful songwriters. Not that their early music from 1963-64 isn't great in it's own right, but this went to a new level. Do you know why? Here's why. In 1964 when The Beatles were on their first US tour, they were in NYC and the legendary singer/songwriter Bob Dylan wanted too meet them. He went to their hotel room and brought along a good friend of his named marijuana and got them high for the first time. They became major league pot heads after this encounter and it changed their music very quickly. You can begin to hear it on their first Lp in 1965 "Help" Lennon's songs were becoming more personal and the follow up Lp "Rubber Soul" is the game changer. Lennon always referred to it as "The Pot Album" and you can hear it. The Lp reeks of reefer, very laid back and a lot more acoustic. Lennon's "Nowhere Man" is a must listen along with his songs "Girl" and "Norwegian Wood" all iconic Lennon songs. A year after this in 66 Lennon and Harrison were onto LSD which resulted in the "Revolver"Lp and maybe their best Album. The single " Paperback Writer/"Rain" released in May 66 just several months before "Revolver" the Lennon song "Rain" is a must listen. The first LSD inspired Lennon song and so many studio firsts on this song. First song with a backwards music and lyrics outro to an end of a song and a lot more going on in this song. Technology had to be created that wasn't in place yet for this song, its great and a must listen. The remix of the "Revolver" Lp was released last September and sounds incredible. As a bonus they they included the remix of this single and both songs sound great. "Rain" is a must listen. I would suggest that any song you listen to from the "Revolver" Lp "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" "The White Album" "Abbey Road" and "Let It Be" you want the 50th anniversary remixes of these album's. They sound great. "Revolver" was released in 66 so there wasn't a 50th anniversary remix of it done so they were talking about a about a 60th anniversary release in 2026. We Beatle fans were having none of that and we got it last September. The next big one is "Rubber Soul" and we're hoping for that one maybe later this year like Oct.-Dec. One more great one for you is George Harrison's "Here Comes The Sun" from the "Abbey Road " remix and it sounds incredible and there's a nice video with it. Even with the incredible catalogue of Lennon/McCartney songs, this one by Harrison is the #1 streamed Beatles song on Spotify with over 700 million plays, so you kinda got to check it out and maybe, just maybe, my favorite Beatles song if one can pick a favorite Beatles song. Peace ❤

@stevedahlberg8680 Жыл бұрын
It's such an incredibly beautiful song and Alice Cooper did a killer version of it later on. He was a huge Beatles fan. If you're familiar with classical music at all, as an intermediate piano student, it's extremely common to learn the Beethoven classic Moonlight Sonata. Well at the time that John wrote this, he and Yoko were hanging out basically impressing each other with how talented and intense they were. And so, he was teaching her how to play Beethoven Moonlight Sonata and then once she thought she really had it down, he was kidding her mostly and he said well in that case do what Beethoven used to do, be able to look at a piece and play it backwards. And she immediately started trying to do that, and what he was hearing drove him to immediately go right out the song Because. And if you listen to it in that light, you will hear exactly what I mean.

Before this album they had a lot of amazing songs however the vast majority of em were sort of your typical love song that everybody was doing. They decided to stray a bit from that starting with Rubber Soul and this song (despite being a love song itself) is a perfect example of John Lennon starting to not only grow as a songwriter but as a man as well. In my life is about John self reflecting and coming to understand how he got to where he is by looking back and appreciating everything and everyone (good and bad) for making him the man that he was at the time

About the instrumental bridge...from Wikipedia: "At that time, Lennon had not decided what instrument to use, but he subsequently asked George Martin to play a piano solo, suggesting "something Baroque-sounding".[2] Martin wrote a Bach-influenced piece that he found he could not play at the song's tempo. On 22 October, the solo was recorded with the tape running at half speed, so when played back at normal pace the piano was twice as fast and an octave higher, solving the performance challenge and also giving the solo a unique timbre, reminiscent of a harpsichord." Studio innovation right there.

Oh yeah, that keyboard was a clavinet. I have played one in a live show a few times, it's pretty fun. There was a fascination with slightly older keyboards like clarinets and farfisa organs for example, just in general around that time. That was their genius producer George Martin playing that baroque-style keyboard solo on the clarinet. Although it's sped up on tape somehow.
@LeChaunce Жыл бұрын
It's not a clavinet. It's a Steinway upright piano, played at half-speed and then sped up because George Martin couldn't play it to tempo. The sped-up tape gives it that clavinet/harpsichord quality. You can find the slowed-down version on KZbin.

This song was in our wedding 27 years ago. I used to sing Beatles songs ( badly ) as a lullaby to my daughters when they were babies.

In America "Meet the Beatles" was their first Capitol Records album. I think "Rubber Soul" in America was their 6 th American Capitol album released December 1965. I was in 10 Grade in High School. The keyboard was a piano that Paul played, and George Martin The Beatles record producer modified the sound of. There was an early Beatles cartoon show mostly for kids, There was also their feature animated movie, "Yellow Submarine". The second side of Abbey Road songs Mean Mr. Mustard, etc was a continuous medley of songs. By the way, the "Please Please Me" only released in England initially. It was released after Capitol Records "Meet the Beatles" in America.

Great reaction . I'm 70 years old , so I always enjoy when I see someone say ==========. ' Beatles , Stevie Wonder , Antonio Carlos Jobim , OK , let's go " . Inevitably 10 second into the song ----- they are transformed , just like Was , way back when .

If you are saying that you actually watched The Beatles early animation Yellow Submarine. That's really impressive. That was so popular when I was in grade school! And I really love everything about that and of course it's Ringo Starr on that and I always liked his stuff but that was a huge hit for them with him taking the lead. That and With a Little Help from My Friends. But he had others as well.

There was the animated TV show from the early 1960's, that I think MTV and Disney aired for a while. But that was way back in the '80s though.

I would love to see you do more Beatles stuff. My suggestion would be to listen to entire albums, especially from Rubber Soul onwards (though the ones from before that period aren’t too shabby either.

The piano solo was played slowly then sped up for the recording. That's what gives it a different sound. The Beatles did a lot of experiments with tape speed and manipulating sounds in the studio, especially during this time in their career.
