Jeff Beck was responsible for the cool sounding "sitar" riff on this song. There's a good story in this month's Guitar Player magazine about this song. The whole issue is basically an overview of his career as he just recently passed away. Sad. I didn't know that he was a real huge automobile enthusiast & collector. He did all of his own mechanical repairs too! What you're hearing on this song is cool but he advanced his technique & songwriting way beyond this level so keep on going! Cheers!

The Yardbirds still give me chills, going on 6 decades now. Amazing band, here with Jeff Beck. Along with Eric Clapton before him and Jimmy Page after, this was one of the biggest influence bands ever. Try Over, Under, Sideways, Down for more psychedelic mastery from Keith Relf and friends. Chris Isaak (best known for his hit song "Wicked Game") did an amazing cover version of "Heart Full Of Soul" on his 2nd album that came out in 1987.

“The Yardbirds first recorded the song with an Indian sitar player performing the distinctive instrumental figures. However, the group were dissatisfied with the results, so Beck developed the part on electric guitar to emulate the sitar. A contemporary review described it as an "oriental touch", and music writers have identified Beck's contribution as introducing Indian-influenced guitar stylings to rock music, and as one of the earliest examples of what became known as raga rock.[1][2][3] Beck's use of a fuzz box has also been cited as perhaps the first significant use of the effect.”

Be sure to hit the Yardbirds song "Think About It" at some point. It's a heavy psychedelic rocker with a blistering guitar solo by Jimmy Page. It was the group's final song, released on a 45rpm vinyl single, before they disbanded in 1968.

Eric Clapton left because he thought the band was going too commercial. He was replaced by Jeff Beck as on this track. For a short while Jeff was joined by Jimmy who played base guitar, then Jeff Beck left.

Pre Led Zeppelin years, Jimmy Page was the guitarist, and Eric Clapton was later I think because he was still with Cream

There are a few artists that are notorious for copyright blocking on KZbin. AC/DC, Ozzy, Black Sabbath (Ozzy Era), The Eagles, Thin Lizzy, Jimmy Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac. I'd stay away from them.
