I had hip surgery last year- I have acetabular overcoverage (deep & snug socket) and impingement and did gymnastics from young age at 20 I had excrutiating pain and couldn't walk, turns out gymnastics caused wear and my body had a build up of extra solid bone which was hitting on structures- that was removed (femur & edge of acetabulum) plus labral repair. Not a fun recovery and I will need double replacement by age 50

Oh and i was told the operation is done, so you WOULDN‘T need the hip replacement as early, because your joints don’t rub together anymore, there is not as much friction that can cause damage anymore...so I wouldn’t worry about that too much now. If it is needed, everything will work out fine! I’m sure 😊 but that’s still far in the future!

I had the same thing as Abbie, when I was 12 I have 2 pins in each hip still and am currently 36. Luckily I never had to have a frame or external pins. I still get pain from arthritis but am overall still able to walk and move mostly normal.
