Teen Spends $1500 A Month To Become Barbie | HOOKED ON THE LOOK

EIGHTEEN-year-old 'human doll' spends $1,500 each month to realise her dream of being the ultimate real-life Barbie. At the age of 16, Gabriela Jirackova, from Prague, Czech Republic, started amping up her normal beauty regime with long blonde hair extensions, massive eyelashes, permanent make-up and lip fillers. The teen, who owns 300 Barbie dolls, recently underwent her first surgical procedure, at a cost of $4,500, to take her natural C cup size breasts to a G cup. And Gabriela already has plans for more cosmetic work, including butt implants, rib removals and even bigger breast implants to help her perfect her ‘living doll’ look.

I thought her pre-implant look WAS with implants, already... until the video said otherwise. She was perfectly buxom, before. Now they look very fake, and the skin looks strained (it's a bit red). No reputable plastic surgeon would augment a C cup to a G cup in one go, in North America. It's not good for the skin and other tissue which has to accommodate the implants.

I've gone from a C to a G, but it's over the course of 21 years!! I had precocious puberty thanks to PCOS and went from flat to full C in a matter of months. And now that I've had my baby and hit 30 I'm at a G cup. But like, that was from age 9 to just a squeak under 31!! Not in a matter of hours, I can't imagine how badly her back & hips must ache from wearing those heels and putting so much extra weight in her chest!! Or maybe I'm biased as I have 4 herniated discs and the top 3 are affected by my size? Just WOW, what a bonkers bananas way to live!!

You know, I remember back in the early 2000's when there was a discussion of whether Bratz dolls specifically were going to impact how girls see themselves. They were seen as more controversial but most people shrugged it off and said that dolls won't affect future body/fashion trends and those who believed so were crazy. 2019: All models on Instagram look just like Bratz dolls and they feature Bratz dolls as their inspiration.

We've had Barbies and countless other knockoff fashion dolls (of which Bratz is just one) since 1959, but body dysmorphia of this kind was extremely rare (and almost entirely isolated to the entertainment industry) until very recently. So, uh... yeah, maybe instead of blaming toys, we look at the unholy alliance between the beauty industry and social media communities which actively and very deliberately push an expensive, artificial standard of beauty, feeding teenaged women the idea that beauty is purchased in the form of costly products and procedures.
