Understand that people in those days were old when they reached 60 years of age. People died younger. When you were 70 years old you were almost looked up as ancient. So yeah, a person of 31 had half his life already lived and society expected you to have a decent job to support your family, have a house of your own, be married and have children when you were 31.

Great message -- faith and science are NOT opposed. In fact, it takes far more "faith" to believe that our existence and universe is just random and does not have an intelligent Creator. A little science leads us away from God, but a lot of science brings us back to Him.
@ytuser392

I so agree! Seeing all the incredible things in nature, chemistry and science only makes the idea of God greater and greater! Why would anyone not want to believe all this was designed by God and instead think that all the incredible details and ecosystem of this world just randomly came out of nowhere?

There’s plenty of conflict in 2023. There’s a whole mob of wack jobs that want to get rid of the department of education because they won’t teach Christianity instead of a regular curriculum. I’m in the south and I can’t tell you how many students have been pulled out of school because their parents think the teachers are gonna tell the boys to wear dresses or something equally as schizophrenic. None of their conspiracies are actually happening but their kids are suffering regardless. Anyone that gullible taking over their kid’s education is… it’s bad news for the kids. That’s all I’ll say.

@@Barbe True prayer and fasting can work real miracles in people. The key word is "can" they have to be open to God's grace. As for "never will?" Only God knows if he never will because God is outside of time. If he never does and puts himself in Hell for all eternity when he dies he will know he spurned all of Jesus' graces and deserves to be there. There are people walking around right now who are like Judas whom Christ can't reach because they have already co-signed themselves to Hell and for Satan it is a matter of "running out the clock" on their lives to so speak. But we as humans don't know who these humans I just described in general are in specific terms, only God does. So i must fraternally correct you as a fellow follower of Christ. I know it's hard, but don't succumb to hate. God's peace to you.

Wow, I love these old videos. As someone who is a strong believer in God and also a lover of science, it’s strange how easily they work in tandem in my mind. Science is simply the explanation and law of nature, from physics to chemistry to biology, and God crated nature and all of its laws. While some things might not be explicitly shown in the Bible, I don’t think it disproves that certain things are taking place that people hadn’t yet begun to understand. Even if God had explained atoms and how he created the world, does not mean people would have understood, or even NEEDED to explain it to us. That’s more the point of faith. Just me trying to share my faith with you all.

Dear palace of wisdom; You’re right. Those who invoke their name tend to point their fingers more. And it seems that the more many of these people are involved in church,the worse they get. I was in the same place as Joe my freshman year of college (1980), struggling to reconcile science with religion. Went to my (Christian) biology professor's office hours for guidance. His response was similar to the spiel George made to Joe, that science explains some things, but for others one needs faith to fill in the gaps. I appreciated his candor but walked out of his office and for the first time realized I was an atheist and have never looked back.

But God exists. If you don't get saved (by Jesus), you will spend eternity in the lake of fire (see Revelation 20:15 onward). Here is how to be saved "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) "The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23) "Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and ... he was buried, and ... he rose again the third day according to the scriptures." (I Corinthians 15:3-4) "The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." (I John 1:7) "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved." (Acts 16:31)

@@jeanhodgson8623 With no disrespect intended, there is no empirical evidence for the existence of spirits. It is simply wishful thinking akin to a child believing in Santa Claus. But if believing in things for which there is no evidence brings meaning and joy to a person's life, that's fine, as long as they don't expect the rest of us to share that delusion.

God gives man the ability to come up with all of these discoveries. To try to “play God” is very dangerous. It is very dangerous to put science or anything ahead of God. He is the creator, in control, and no matter what, his way will always be right. We just have to have faith in him,not in science. Sometimes we don’t understand things but that is where faith comes in. He knows what’s best. There is only one approach to the truth and that is Jesus Christ. I like how the mother reads the 23rd psalm for strength. And how the father seems calm beca use of his faith.

before theologians began to make society comfortable w/doctrine that involves understanding the Bible as a non-literal text, believers must have felt quite defensive in light of physics/scientific discovery. Why man ever felt that he could rightly explain/justify an all-powerful being'd creation of the world is beyond me. A lot of grey areas exist within the blurred lines of creation/evolution
