I was waiting until I was done to comment but I’m already sold. This is by far the best, most comprehensive and entertaining TMNT video on KZbin. And I’m enjoying it section by section. I know you do this for fun and it shows, but it’s simply criminal a video so well done with love doesn’t have 100Kplus views. Your content is a perfect example of passionate, creative work and what this platform is supposed to be about. YT is getting it WRONG when it comes to your content. I love this video so far and thank you for making it. And I’ll follow up once I finally get through this epic! Over half way through.

So I've been watching pieces of this video over the past few days while also playing the NES turtles games and my wife comes in one day and says, "you know that's a really catchy theme song they have." I chuckled and said how you talked about that intro as such an important part of getting people into the show and how other shows sort of copied that. She was a little skeptical so I hummed a few parts of the X Men opening and she was right there humming with me and remembered the final face off at the end of the intro. It was pretty funny.

@@creativecatproductions Also think you downplayed Batman on the outside of the turtles with the cover of X-Men. Batman did hit a few months before in 1992 at the start of the year and was a major hit. Perhaps it had more of an impact on comics TV than even X-men. Did find the shot of Rouges' butt pretty funny though. April had plenty herself in the 80's lol.

I actually own a couple dozen issues of the Archie comic as well as several colorized trade paperback collections of the Mirage comic. As far as video games, The Manhattan Project and Turtles in Time were the best (I haven't played anything more current than TMNT Tournament Fighters for the SNES).

I own a few compilations of the old comic, but I have little experience with the Archie series….it looks interesting though. I totally agree, the turtles and time and Manhattan project are best. For me the Manhattan project was kind of a fun discovery because I had very little exposure to it when it was released. I vividly remember the NES port of the arcade game, and I also underestimated that game. It’s not bad at all. Thanks for watching dude! 😎

I've been replaying Turtles 1, 2 and 3 on the NES and those are some really fun games. I only had a couple of deep runs in Turtles 1 as a kid (mostly dying on the dam level or very shortly after) but actually managed to play through using save states and outside of the final run towards Shredder (and some frustrating collision detection) I think it's pretty darn good. Turtles 2 was amazing at the time but in hindsight I think this one suffers the most. That jump slash is so crucial to advance and it gets tiring pretty quickly and overall the game is just far too repetitive. Again, a benefit of playing now is the use of save states so you can have fun beating an area or two and then come back the next day. Turtles 3 in my opinion blows Turtles 2 away in terms of game play (and a lot less flicker) but both games drag on. As a kid I can't say I ever complained but as an adult either cut two levels or shorten each one a bit to improve game flow.

I really enjoy Turtles 3, but I very much agree that that both turtles 2 and 3 drag a bit on the NES. I would have liked to see another platforming game with adventure elements but, alas, that arcade game’s popularity changed everything.

@@creativecatproductions Yeah 100% agree. We mentioned that in the initial upload that it feels like they missed a big opportunity not doing another Turtles 1 style of game. I'm also changing my vote. I thought I was at the end of Turtles 3 but my god, the game just keeps going on and on and the foot soldiers get so f ing annoying! They run away from you, you try and jump kick and they punch you across the screen, you sit back and wait for them to come to you and most have projectiles at the end of the game. Turtles 2 may have been a slog but it felt fair. Turtles 3 just feels like torture by the end. I had continues but didn't even care to try and finish.

It was just me going on about my experience of David Wise. People don't really care much. What I will say is that for how belittled and looked down on the Fred Wolf series is I do feel it has as much value and worth as anything that came after both in scripts and style. 👍

@@creativecatproductions There's a tendency to belittle and look down on 80's cartoons as just toy commercials. Very few really were guilty of that cough -Transformers, GI Joe - cough. So I get very defensive about that.

I’ve never actually seen the Biker Mice from Mars but I recall that they had a pretty good game on the snes! Yeah, I never know what kind of crazy thing I’m going to say when we set out to make these videos, but after watching the entirety of the Coming Out of Their Shell payperview show it’s impossible not to remark on the fact that the show is ostentatiously and sometimes inappropriately about being gay. The name of the show, the twerking and gyrating male dancers (including the turtles), the song “walk straight” were all very much poorly disguised homosexual soul searching on the part of their creator. I later found out that the show’s lead creator/producer/song writer, Microsoft advertising executive Bob Bejan, is very much openly gay….but at the time? I wonder. Nothing about the show fits the ninja turtles at all. I think he had other aspirations and simply repurposed his songs and such to fit the turtles brand. The result is, kind of terrible, but so spectacularly terrible that it’s essentially must see TV at this point. KZbin didn’t seem to care, but TikTok won’t let me show that clip for the very reason you might think. Personally, I’m shocked no one else talks about it. This show is the gayest, most sexually suggestive thing I’ve ever seen directed at a target demographic of 3 to 12 year olds. It’s wild. Thanks for watching dude! 😎
