From what I understand he took the loss at April’s house the worst and became all silent and closed off, that’s also why April doesn’t mention Mikey when describing what’s going on with the rest of the turtles. There’s a Channel called the old turtle den or something like that that has a whole video on the side plot

I think it was the right call. Wouldn’t have fit Michelangelo’s character and would have made little sense since he remained his wisecracking self between Splinter’s abduction and the time at the farm house.

tyrone kinard I don’t know, man. TMNT was ultimately a kids property by the time it was adapted for tv and film. Maybe they would have made money if it was rated R, but aiming for pg wasn’t necessarily disrespectful.
@lordhughmungus
@lordhughmungus 3 жыл бұрын
@tyrone kinard Barely anyone knew the comics existed; the popularity of the Turtles came from the TV show which was aimed strictly towards children. An R-rated movie would have been a humongous disconnect and would have flopped horrifically.

tyrone kinard chill dude. The license holders had to make a choice, and they chose to make a kids property. This movie is the closest well get to the tone of the OG comics, and it’s a pretty good movie. We haven’t been betrayed, it’s just what ended up happening.

"Turtles" is a seriously underrated movie. Not just a piece of nostalgia either. Its got character development and arcs, gritty old NYC atmosphere, humor (Casey and Donatello), and decent martial arts. Also Shredders first entrance is epic.

If only we could get one like this now. Depressing how far many of those 80-90s franchises fell creatively, due to Bay...and others over simplifying/brightening movies and tv for "children". There's so much stuff geared for kids from that time period I can enjoy as an adult (not just nostalgia/can't say that for much for this generation ).

Pizza Hut started doing delivery in 1986. The reason why the pizza is Dominos in the movie is that they were in a bidding war for advertising and the production company thought Dominos was going to win, so they filmed the scene with Dominos. By the time Pizza Hut came out on top, the scene was already filmed and they didn't want to re-shoot it.

Excuse you all? No no, the first series from 1987 was best. Maybe on a nostalgia level or the fact that all others were trying to copy, idk. But it was definitely.... the only 1 I fully remember lol

1:44:23 -- Splinter dies in the 2012 animated series, a few seasons in. It's a huge showdown with Shredder and he gets stabbed and dropped off a fkn building, which is REALLY brutal for a kids show. The rest of the season/show kinda follows on with the fallout from that too.

The nearest Pizza Hut to me is actually fairly classy and the Pizza is incredible. For reference I live in Canada where the Pepsi Co restaurants are much nicer than what I’ve heard the American Pepsi Co restaurants are like

ALright, there's a pretty serious bit of misinformation around 28:30 where credit is being given to the wrong person. First, the turtles were NOT just played by stunt men, then dubbed over. There were a minimum of 4 actors per turtle: 1. Physical actors (who all wore the suits for non action sequences) 2. Stunt actors (all of whom were originally from Hong Kong with one important change) 3. Voice actors 4. Puppeteers I think it's criminal that not all of these actors are credited for their specific work. Josh Pais was NOT the stunt actor for Raphael. Around the 30 minute mark of this video one of them says "I don't think they threw a dude into that garbage can when he like gets launched into there!" But they DID. That "dude" was Mo Yuen, Raphael's stunt actor from Hong Kong. He got injured doing that very stunt! They got a foot solider actor to fill in, who's name was Kenn Troum ( He now goes by Kenn Scott). Kenn is actually credited as "Talkative Foot #2" and got his SAG card for two lines in the film, one of which was cut. Scott was actually the foot soldier that they talked about at 1:51, who engaged Michelangelo in the nunchuck competition. Scott did some very recognizable stunts such rolling over the taxi cab near central park (Pais is actually in the back seat in that scene as a passenger, if you need more proof that he's not his own stunt man) and the fight scene on top of the roof. If getting this information accurate is important/interesting, Kenn Scott's book about his journey in the first film and his work in the second film is covered in "Teenage Ninja to Mutant Turtle: Becoming the Reel Raphael." It's $10 on Amazon and well worth a read.

Wow this was amazing. I really like these guys. I'm glad they got some shine, and can't wait to check out some of their other stuff. I LOVE this film and to me it's aged like fine wine IMO. Simply because the emotional beats, and even the subtle back story of Casey Jones and April O Neal they drop in are always welcome. Edit: Also my running theory of The Shredder and The Foot in this movie is that Shredder is involved in organized crime (possibly Yakuza) He migrated to the United States and is in the early stages of setting up shop with other Yakuza in NYC, and his specialty was theft. He uses the Japanese cultural items to intrigue, intimidate, and lure in impressionable youth (a lot of which may have never seen someone who can do what he does in a Shogun outfit) to start up a new regime like he had in Japan. That would also explain why he uses runaways to become Foot Soldiers. It also lines up with the economic collapse and reconstruction of Japan and major Japanese cities' crackdown on organized crime. That's just my theory though. He doesn't just recruit kids, he recruits young runaways.
