If I may share my experience. 1 - do not sell that truck. 2 - stopping is more important than acceleration, cryo treated discs all the way around. 3 - shift kit for the transmission. 4 - NAPA 3.5" in / out muffler. 5 - mechanical limited slip diff. 6 - turbo wheel. 7 - gentle tune. 8. 10 mm wrench and Cam Position Sensor should be stored in the truck at all time - CPS can fail at any time for no good reason. 9. enjoy the truck.

Don't forget that FORD changed the #8 Injector to AE to overcome "cackle". I have an early '99 with All 8 factory AB injectors. I reworked them with the full kit (with shims) that I purchased. I still need to replace one solenoid. Your noise issue sounds more like pipes than "cackle" ! Congratulations on the F250 purchase ! By the way, if you ever install a kit, watch out.! FIRST Kit that I purchased had Armature Screws that have tall heads. Easy to feel if you know what to look for..

In my experience i’ve had it where those up-pipe donuts fail and can cause the whistle but i’ve also seen cracked up-pipes cause that same sound. The only other issue i’ve had where it makes that kind of chatter is a cracked flywheel, seen it a few times in the past. It’s a stamped steel flywheel so definitely worth upgrading.
@ProjectTimeGarage3 ай бұрын
I afraid the flex plate may be the culprit here
@JLCmike40143 ай бұрын
@@ProjectTimeGarage, at least it’s a 2WD truck so the trans comes out a little easier. The flexplates usually crack/break around the bolt holes. Definitely have him spring for the billet flexplate so this problem never happens again.

I have an early 99 7.3 single cab long bed 4x4 with the zf6 I have the watergate adjusted so I can build boost faster and a microchips tuner runs good. I also have a 2001 7.3 and I’ll say I think the early 99s are more reliable than later models like 01-03 but overall power from factory the later models take the win with the bigger turbo and bigger injectors.

its either just an exhaust rattle, or worse, flexplate. Get up under there and try to wiggle the exhaust to see if its hitting anywhere.

Arch Oil? First I have heard of them. I run Stanadyne or Power Service in my fuel, every tank. Looks like Arch Oil makes a kit: Archoil Ultimate Diesel Kit - AR9100 Friction Modifier (16oz) + AR6500 Diesel Treatment (40oz) + AR6400-D Diesel Fuel System Cleaner (12oz). What are you using and how often?

Yeah Brian, that's definitely sounds like it's a exhaust hanger that may be rubbing against the frame somewhere or a clamp has come loose. My truck is a 2000 and both times I've replaced the exhaust it had the rattle and it does now😂, I just haven't crawled under it to find out where it's coming from. Good luck and nice 7.3 Colton 👍 hope to see some mods in the near future.😀 P. S. Buddy if you were needing some content I coulda brought ya my 7.3 and just dropped it off 🫣...😂 ~Jay~
