When you find people in the world that want to be a little different and do it all the right ways, it's good to lift them up and give them a little bit of spotlight. Good on ya, lad.

What a gorgeous young man. Staying true to himself and living his best life. Not being a sheep and following the crowd, but following his heart and his passions. I share your love for the 1940's too, keep up the great work Charlie.

That right there is a past life resonance. I can relate to him. He is brave and refreshing. And well spoken. Says a lot about his obvious love for his grans and his influences and mentors. I hope he finds the scene there that many people are part of. A different and supportive community of like minded individuals who choose to live as he does. It's hard being a modern time warper. It's also something you can't explain to people. It feels like you finally find your fit and the authentic vintage look just completes who you are. Every day. Not just for dress ups. And not necessarily following the social beliefs of the times. There is a lot to be said for the connections you can feel to the past. You feel it in the energies of vintage objects like he does here. I think he's fabulous.

I would absolutely love to do a sort of “retreat” to a vintage town for a week. Dress up in the same clothes, walk around the main street. Maybe one of the days there would be a fair with games that would have been around during that time. Attend parties and social gatherings and such. Eat at restaurants with period correct food, utensils, etc. Would be a blast!

I agree it’s hard to find like minded people our age (teenaged) with vintage interest, especially when you’re trying to live the lifestyle and not spend so much time on the internet! I wish there was a diner or a dance hall designed for teenagers to go and meet new people, dance and play records on a jukebox:) I also feel as if boys and men who enjoy vintage are much harder to come by then girls who like vintage... not just vintage aesthetic. So it’s nice to know you’re out there!
@davidlee90263 жыл бұрын
@@bobeanie3102 It is rather difficult, currently the only other people I've seen who are into vintage are people on the web, who could very well live miles away. Also, I like the diner or dance hall thing. There are so few places to go these days to socialize, due mainly to people relying on the internet for social interaction.
@bobeanie31023 жыл бұрын
@@davidlee9026 I agree. It’s so hard to find like minded people let alone those who live near you. Unfortunately I haven’t met to many people online, mostly because I seldom spend my time on the internet (other that KZbin :) but if you meet people who interest you who live farther away than desirable, writing letters is a very old fashioned and fun thing to do to keep in contact!

@@bobeanie3102 hiya....... Once restrictions lift, if you look on friendsofthe40s.com any dances/40s weekends/vintage fairs etc should be listed on there, there's another one called loveofthe40s.co.uk which I believe also lists the events. I've been on the 40s scene for over 20 years and it is great fun, all like minded people of different ages.

Love this! I can so identify with you Charlie as I have held a love of the 1940's close to my heart ever since I was a little girl. I think I got it from my nana too who was born and grew up in England, before emigrating to Australia later. It was a difficult era for sure, but also so many positives about it as well. I love everything about that century, from the fashions to the simple lifestyle. I particularly love a couple of references you made which are straight out of my favourite tv show "Goodnight Sweetheart", where Gary (the time traveller) lives in 1990's Cricklewood and Phoebe's husband in 1940 worked in a custard powder factory before being enlisted. I have never heard anyone reference those in real life until now, awesome!

I’m in love with the 40s too. My house was built in 1946 and I’ve put back dado rails and I’ve wallpapered rooms 40s style and furniture. You can’t beat it😘. My kids when they were growing up when they brought friends home they used to say it’s not that we can’t afford new furniture 🪑 it’s like this because my mum loves the the era 🥴😂.!. They’ve left home now and I still decorate 40s style 😘❤️❤️❤️❤️. You keep it young man 👍🥰

Completely understand, I have always been fond of things from earlier times, there is a magic there that modern things don't seem to have xD. Plus, you are caring for something that can not be replaced, it would be nice to know that after I pass away, objects that are over 100 years old may have a chance at living on, and not end up in a landfill somewhere!

Is this growing retro trend a modern phenomenon (for the last 2 decades) or is it just that the Internet has exposed it more? I do not remember as a child hearing about people actually living a past era. Of course, at school. we had a retro-theme party/day once, but young people were mostly happy with contemporary fashion and trends. Just wondering.

He means his parents spent thousands to support his extravagant lifestyle. That being said the fact that regular ol' menswear is now "extravagant" says a lot about just how much things have deteriorated both in fashion and especially in real wage stagnation. His mustache definitely needs some refining though. Combined with the babyface (unavoidable in our age it seems, it must be an environmentally triggered hormonal issue) it makes him look 12. A very unbecoming look.
