Their story is so touching. It's nice to think how Carly will always have evidence to how much they loved her and how selfless they were with their decision. I hope when she is a legal adult she feels comfortable and welcome in their home, with all respect to Brandon and Theresa for raising her and being her parents. It's heartbreaking to see how painful it is for Cate and Ty, especially considering how much their lives have changed since giving Carly up.
@ryal-queen93893 жыл бұрын
They didn't actually give her up they placed her with a family that could take care of her since they couldn't they were just 16 when they made that decision and a great one now she has 2 families that loves her unconditionally

Yes. I literally could feel it through the screen. It cuts like a knife…I just feel like they didn’t know what their future would be like. When you watch old episodes, and the brokenness of their family when they were teens, they didn’t want Carly to have that. Of course they have the funds and ability to raise her now but in 2009 their situation was 100 percent different. I genuinely think they made the adoption decision out of total love. They still love her like their other girls I can absolutely tell. They were incredibly brave for doing what they did. I know it was SO hard. 😢😢

One can really see someone’s side if they would opt to terminate a pregnancy. Re: adoption, knowing that you couldn’t care for the child, and then having the recurring pain and regret even if you do see them - especially now with them being in a stable place to fully care for her. Having blood siblings and not being raised with them. Its brutal over and over. How interesting that Dawn glossed over all that while pocketing a bunch of money to boot. All feels rather shady.

@annabellebeckwith92833 жыл бұрын
Yet, when you really think about it: If he and Cait had kept Carly they probably wouldn't have been in the TM series; the reason they were chosen to appear on the show in the first place was their decision while Cait was pregnant to place the baby for adoption. And the rest is history. Carly is loved and nurtured as well as financially comfortable, something Tyler and Caitlin couldn't possibly have matched had they kept her. Also, their other three children have better lives because of it. In the end, their unusual maturity and wisdom brought wonderful results and love all the way around -- and Carly is still in their lives. I believe Tyler and Caitlin will go down (or should I say, "up,") as the most exemplary, memorable couple on this show - and for all the right reasons.

Unpopulair opinion: adoption was the best thing for Carly at that moment in time. Cate and Ty were in survival mode dealing with their drug addicted parents. They were two teens who had to deal with A LOT! The right support system was not there at that time. Now Carly got to grow up in a save and (financially) stable environment. Cate and Ty had more kids when they were READY! Bless them because they gave the ultimate sacrifice. Most people are selfish and let their kids grow up in a horrible mess without a decent chance of having a proper future just to say they kept their child. Mental health is just as important as financial health. It's not just about feeding the kid.

These two are so strong! Giving up your child for adoption is the ultimate sacrifice and declaration of love. I’m so happy they got to see her again 💕

I’m watching from when they were teens now. It‘s a trip how I can watch every Teen Mom episode over and over. It’s so weird. I love them. They’re everything coming from a teen mom who got pregnant at age 16 in 1978. 💪🏽

That whole entire family loves her so much 😭😭

They don't see it now but they will have a lifetime to make up for it. I'm 100% sure of it. That kid is going to have two families that will absolutely love and support her in her early adult life that have also spent so much time and energy on growth on themselves. How wonderful is that.

Omg you guys are so strong. Your the reason why I have watched teen mom for years. One day your daughter will grow up and part of your family more. I wish you all the best for the years that come

The adoptive parents are so self-righteous. When Carly is of age, she’s going to want to be with her birth parents and sisters on the holidays and her adoptive parents are going to have to deal.

I'm sure when Carly gets older, she will establish that Mom and Dad relationship with her birth parents. The love is there, and its real
@princessjasmine47233 жыл бұрын
She has a mom and dad: Brandon and Theresa. I think she will establish her own special relationship with cate and Tyler and it will be beautiful but to say that she will have a mom and dad relationship with them is a slap in the face to the people that raise her every single day.
@aylamartinez21343 жыл бұрын
@@princessjasmine4723 THANK YOU!!! These comments make me so upset. She has parents. It really bothers me how quickly people are willing to discredit Brandon and Teresa. They deserve the credit for the awesome kid they are raising. I was raised by my grandparents and my mom. My father was out of the picture for years. Now he’s back in a bit more and the only people who call him Dad to me are his family which I choose to be estranged from. And I always correct them. I have a dad. He’s not it. She has a Mom and Dad. C&T are not it.
@Sara-wy8lh3 жыл бұрын
@@aylamartinez2134 exactly! I think the open adoption has been really unhealthy and problematic for everyone involved. My dad was adopted and never had any desire to connect with his birth parents because his adoptive parents were more than enough for him.
@Aj-sn1dp2 жыл бұрын
@@aylamartinez2134 Your situation really isn’t comparable. They didn’t walk out on her, they did what was absolutely best at the time. I’m sure when she’s older she’ll appreciate all that they did. If she wants them to be mom and dad too then that’s fine. They gave her a life she could’ve never had with them and she’ll more than likely see that as a positive not a negative
@princessjasmine47232 жыл бұрын
@B N . Biological doesn’t make someone a parent. Period. A man can impregnate 30 women and abandon all 30 kids, that doesn’t still make him a parent. He’s a sperm donor. Tyler ans cate are not cadly’s parents. Period. They aren’t parent like figures to her. If that’s the case, then call distant relatives who only see you once a year parent like figures. Carly, like most adopted kids who have loving adoptive parents view THOSE adopted parents as their parents and Tyler and cate as people who are related by blood but don’t have a real connection. She can choose to pursue a deeper connection at 18 but they will never be the people that raised her. Stop diminishing Carlys adopted parents. It’s weird. You can like Tyler and cate without disrespecting Carlys mom and dad. Tyler and cate do not see Carly often. They’ve gone years at one point without seeing her. You’re overestimating the role they really play in her life because mtv made you like them lol stop. Be real

@afullchalicevlogs79793 жыл бұрын
If they kept her- they would never be on MTV. Their entire story would be rewritten. Everything happened for a reason and Carly is beautifully loved by both families.
@A5queen3 жыл бұрын
You don’t know that. They both came from a broken home and parents that were not able to even be there for support. They gave up a Carly to give her a better life. A selfless act. And look at Carly now, they did the right thing.
@kelleythenurse32833 жыл бұрын
Years ago they said on an episode of teen mom that if they had kept Carly that they wouldn’t still be together, the stress of having a baby in the horrifically unhealthy and abusive home Cate was living in, especially at age 17, would have destroyed their relationship.
