The point of the song was to tell both sides of the story to show that it is only misunderstandings that divide us. And they hug in the end because they learn eachothers history and there are truths in both parts of the song that both of them understand now so they gain respect for eachother and have sympathy for eachother

I think the reason why they said that was because it happened so quickly in the video. It went instantly from hateful things said and then a forgiving hug. It had to be that quick for the song sake to make their point but in real life that kind of forgiveness takes time.

The best thing about this "song" is the conversation between people, gaining more understanding of who they are and how they imagine themselves in society to how society actually treats them, the most frustrating thing for me is that I a slightly below 18 years of age person had already come up with this conclusion and that many notable wise older people just did not come up with the same conclusion. The theory it self is easier to say than actually done and even after this "song" it is not like anything will really change, unfortunately that is just how the world works especially when changing existing beliefs and societal problems. (My age is undisclosed for obvious reasons).
