No one knows anything about mushrooms. We think we know, but mushrooms are the biggest mystery in the universe. It's a mushroom's world, we're just living in it.

Apparently Fruit flies born on the international space station are born with their fungal immune system massively depleted. Bacterial immune system works fine, but it's like being born off planet shuts down your ability to resist fungal infection. Most fucked part? Being subjected to high gravity on re-entry reactivated their fungal immune system and strengthened it. I don't know what the fuck that means or what to do with that info. But it seemed like you're a person who would appreciate that bonkers little fact. Mushrooms and fungus are something ELSE

Loved this video, so fun!! And statements like "wanna see the bucket full of gross stuff?!" usually means ive found cool people 🎉 🍄 🫶🏻 🕺🏻 I get excited each year when the little fruits pop out on the lawns in my apartment complex. Makes me happy that the soil is probably doing good despite all this concrete if mycellium is down there. Cant wait to poke around, grab a couple, and stick em under the microscope!! I've never done a spore print! You've inspired me!!

Im 3 minutes in and I LOVE this. I just got into mycology in mid August. Ive always loved mushrooms, but always had a deep fear of them instilled in me, all I would ever do is kick em. Now I go outside every day to look at muchrooms!!!! Theres so many!!! My favourite right now is cortinarius purpurascens. Its a bright, vivid purple when you find it at the right time (it later turns brown) and it is just onr of the prettiest, gorgeous and adorable mushrooms ive found. I am sad I cant eat it, but I use it to fertilize my flowers and for compost.

Also, a piece of advice for identifying (most) psilocybes - look for blue bruising! If you pluck one outta the ground, it'll likely turn a sort of dark greyish blue as the psilocybin oxidates! Note: not all mushrooms that bruise blue are psilocybin containing!

I sing a song to myself when looking for mushrooms. "Is it a mushroom or is it just garrrbageeee? ..... It's garbage" (always) When I got into mycology, I promised myself I wouldn't eat any, because I'm not smart enough. But after like 2 months I found herricium. Took that baby home and ate it. Soooo delicious.

“Not even worth collecting and identifying”, well, I’ve never heard of it, so even if you think it’s common and not worth it,at the very least, ONE person learned how to identify that mushroom. And even if I did know the mushroom, this video is showing me the basics on how to identify mushrooms, even if the mushroom is common.
