Your sweet voice puts you number one in my channel subscriptions. Sewing has been my go to and one of my earliest memories watching my mother sew on a peddle driven Singer. From nearly 70 yrs ago making scruffy doll clothes through selling when illness ended jobs to late in life for relaxation, sewing is my rock. Thirty yrs ago it healed after brain surgery. Today it calms stress due to cancer. I want to make your hexagons but arthritis and partial blindness make it difficult. Right now it's masks and prayer hearts. I'll never stop sewing until complete blindness and then I'll still search for a way. Magnifying lamps, electronic sewing machines and other guide helps are a Godsend. God Bless You. You are an angel to many.💜🙏💮🛑

Thank you for such a lovely comment! I really appreciate your kind words. I am glad you have sewing to help you through very difficult times and I am sorry arthritis and sight loss are making it difficult. You are an inspiration that you won't give up on sewing and that you will always find a way. Take care x x

Oh my goodness, literally just came across you this evening and I am in love! I have made 1” hexagons (only into pincushions so far!) but never as small as yours - they are so cute that I stopped mid video and placed an order with Ashmead Designs. This 66 year old will be following you on You Tube and Instagram - you sound so young but are so knowledgeable and passionate about EPP which I only recently discovered. Love your teaching style 💕🏴🤗

Lovely pieces of work. Yes I love liberty fabric. So very different isn’t it. I am making a 108x108 size quilt. Using liberty and its looking amazing. I am just doing it as flowers and putting them together. However each hexagon in the flower is different, I have tried doing some with the glue and some with sewing. I prefer to sew for myself I can get a better finish. I find glueing you can get near to the sewing edge which makes it very hard to sew together. However either way has advantages. Very enjoyable to do. Thank you for your video .

Thank you Emma. I ordered some of the Liberty fabric (scraps) and they arrived from the UK quickly. Lovely prints and plenty to make lots of tiny hexies. What type of needle do you use? I'm having difficulty stitching them together. Maybe I should order the hexiforms you use instead of paper, especially for the tiny ones. LOVE all of your videos. Thanks so much!!
@emmajonesvintagesewingbox4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mary, that’s exciting that you’ve got some Liberty scraps, you can have lots of fun with those. I use a clover black gold applique sharps size 9 needle but many people also like size 10, or milliners needles. I’m sorry you are having difficulty stitching them, I definitely found them fiddly at first but I got used to them, I’m sure you will too. The hexiform is brilliant and definitely helps make it easier as you don’t have to remove it afterwards. Let me know how you get on, happy sewing 😊🌸
@devinemsm054 жыл бұрын
Thanks Emma. It's not the size really, I'm having trouble getting the needle through the fabric with the paper. I ordered some hexiforms and size 10 needles today from Ashmead. It will be much easier I'm sure! Thank you. Mary

I just love the tiny hexies and your wonderful video. Thank you so much. Do you have a method for removing the papers when they have been glued?
@emmajonesvintagesewingbox4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mary, thanks ever so much for watching my video and for taking the time to leave me such a lovely comment. I don't remove the templates in this video, because here I'm not using paper ones, I'm using hexiform ones which are designed to be left in. But when I do use papers, I just peel back the fabric that has been stuck to the paper and pull the paper out, it comes out easily if you don't use too much glue.
@wilhelminasieffon-williams9213 Жыл бұрын
Any more advice or tips on covering the hexi form/really small paper? I’m really struggling to get enough seam allowance but not too much and also keeping them symmetrical. I’ve tried using the guide with the hexi forms but that seems too much. Tia

Ps I’ve watched the other videos about basting

I keep the seam allowance really small, just enough to fold over and overlap just a little. The guide on the packet is too big for this size in my opinion. Are you glue basting? I think that helps. And also, try thinner fabric first. I use a lot of Liberty tana lawn but any kind of cotton lawn fabric works well with it being thinner. Then you can feel the edge of the hexiform more easily and make sure not to bend it. Keep practicing, you’ll get there. 🌸

Do you have any suggestions on how to make your own EPP paper pieces, the small 1/2" or 1/4" cuties that you use? I'm in love with your KZbin videos and want to make my own paper pieces so I don't have to keep buying them. Thank you so much for any advice you can give. xoxo

Hi Karen. On my website in the free patterns section, there are free printable hexagon templates that you can print and cut out. I would suggest using paper that is thicker than printer paper, thin card would work well 🌸

Una pregunta..... Usted no quita el papel de la parte de atrás????
@emmajonesvintagesewingbox3 жыл бұрын
Es porque no uso papel. Es hexiform que se queda dentro 😊

Hi Emma, I hope you well. Did you say the size of these hexagons were 1/4 inch? I want to order some. Also, do you have a video showing how to make the hexagon sewing kit, not the box, but the one that needle fits in I would love to make that also. Thank you so much, blessings to you. Becky from Texas

Hi Becky, yes they are 1/4 inch. Yes I have a video showing the hexagon needle book if that’s the one you mean. Thank you, happy sewing!😊

Just found your videos and love your beautiful work with clear instructions. I can’t use glue due to sensitivities. Do you think these are too teeny for hand basting?
@emmajonesvintagesewingbox3 жыл бұрын
thank you Sarah! There are people who thread baste this size, and if you are using Hexiform rather than paper then it's even easier as you don't have to remove them. However, I would suggest maybe starting with 3/8" hexagons first. They are slightly larger but still lovely and tiny, if that makes sense!

I haven’t had any problems with the glue, I definitely use more glue than I would with paper. If you still don’t have any luck after using more glue, maybe try thread basting? Sorry I can’t be any better help
