Recently noticed i had gingivitis with some gum recession and some pretty bad swelling on my top left gum. I started brushing twice a day for a full 2 minutes and also flossing twice a day. After doing this for a week i noticed a MASSIVE difference. Thank you for all the help!

I'm 28 and I've already had a gum tissue graft for gum recession lol. I can't help it my depression is horrible and in depression and other mental illness you can't really consider the future. Our brains don't work like that. It just doesn't matter. Even if I could see into the future and see what will happen to my teeth and body due to gum disease it wouldn't motivate me. It's so messed up.

Same, thought my teeth were bad anyway so WHY BOTHER my depression said. Then I got an infection and needed a root canal, 4 actually..... and the sharp pain from an infected tooth is ungodly unbearable. And root canals are at least $4000. Set reminders. Start small. Dentistry is so OVERWHELMING especially when suffering anhedonia because there's so much you need to do to be perfect right? Thats something that often gets overlooked i think.. (Maybe a video idea, Whitney) Start brushing just once a day, thats what I did for a few months. Once you feel like it, add more to your dental hygiene. It really does help a lot, even with the depression.

I get cleaning every 3 months 😭😭😭😭 years of brushing to aggressively and flossing aggressively and not going to the dentist as often as I should have because of extreme fear is what led me to early periodontitis 😭😭😭 I have receding gums and I don't want to have to get a gum graft!! I heard it it's very painful and uncomfortable and I don't even think Medi-Cal covers it 😭😭😭😭

i've always had teeth issues, my parents were never attentive to me when it came to my teeth so i never really took care of them. I remember being a toddler smiling for a school photo and the photographer telling me not to because my teeth were yellow. Sometime last year my dentist told me i had gum disease , but in the early stage and when i got a check up last month she said it wasn't changing (getting better or worse) I just really want to be able to reverse this and have healthy gums so i pray these tips actually help

If you haven't gone to the dentist go and ask directly. I went 25 years without going and finally went and it was the best thing I ever did. And there was no judgment by the employees. They got in there and did the work and I did my part moving forward at home and things are great now

@@black_sheep_fab9411 That's good for you. I never skipped for 25 years straight (I haven't even lived for that long lol) but I went maybe about 9 months ago and did get judged because I wasn't going every 6 months. I'm going again this week and I think I'll be judged again tbh but that really doesn't stop me because better late than never. Also like the initial comment said I started brushing and flossing regularly and my gums are not bleeding anymore so maybe they'll actually say my gingivitis has been cured? I hope so!

it depends! everyone is different! most hygienists will evaluate yearly if you can graduate up to every 4 months or every 6 months. but having said that, some patients will stay on 3 months forever. it really just depends on the status of your gums! hope this helps!

I think i had peridontitis in my younger days, my dentist now says i dont have it or gingivitus as i go for regular cleanings etc but im confused because i thought periodontitis isnt curable? Is it possible to no longer have it like my dentist says?
@sencerr226
@sencerr226 4 ай бұрын
I could be wrong but I think it isn't "curable" because it's a statement for bone loss, which once it's gone it's gone. However, as long as you manage, you should be able to refrain from having any more bone loss in the future. Again, could be wrong but that's what I gather.

maybe it was gingivitis you had when you were younger?! and maybe you were showing signs of perio! gum disease is a range. and the goal is to not allow it to get to the incurable stage. but it does sometimes happen, and when it does -- we maintain and manage it!
@ellen3093
@ellen3093 4 ай бұрын
@@TeethTalkwhat do you mean about the incurable stage? Is it just to say that the bone loss and gum loss is not curable, or is it about the fact that once the bacteria is at this stage, they cannot be stopped and it will progress faster forever?! I have mild periodontitis and am scared about bacteria leaking out in my bloodstream and all of those things you listed. I try my hardest with my teeth now and don't have bleeding but I do have recession and sometimes still have inflammation on some teeth.

I have one tooth where the gum line looks weird around it and it’s just under 4 months I’ve had a cleaning ... brush my teeth 3x a day floss at night + waterpik + xylitol mints after meals ... oil pulling and occasional salt rinse ... bought a toothpaste for gum repair ... getting annoyed now doing all this stuff for nothing Sorry for the rant ... is this something I should get concerned about and get another cleaning now rather than my scheduled September appointment ? Only thing I can possibly think of causing this despite is being a mouth breather due to a deviated septum which I have now been waiting 19 months for a surgery Any recommendations? I can’t think of anything else I can possibly do ... maybe mouth wash but considering everything I already do I’m so annoyed with what’s going on

@@kwufoduklydia6914 thanks for the reply. I believe so ...called for a cleaning in 2 weeks didn’t want to risk it I truly believe my problems all stem to my deviated septum causing my mouth breathing and dry mouth. Haven’t had a 8+ hrs night of sleep in forever . Anyone ever have any problems ask to speak to a specialist ASAP never trust your doctors Spent 20 years telling dr’s somethings off with my nose and they all told me it’s fine and I got a new dr a few years ago and she sent me to a specialist right away and been waiting now since Jan 2023 for a call which has yet to come.
