Very nice! Brings back memories of catching them roll through Glendale in the evening on their way to Carson for unloading. Great catch!

I never got to Tehachapi very many times and I never got to see the "Cans". I'll always be bummed about that. Too bad that BN C30-7 wasn't online, it would've added some great sounds to the show.

Why are the pipes connecting the cars together?
@ortlu-ro9yn5 жыл бұрын
Those "pipes" were hoses that allowed to load the entire train from a single point, instead from each car individually.

@@ortlu-ro9yndamn that means these cares a fully fully loader. Heavy shit yo

Another CLASSIC, Kevin! Them 645's were "huffin' and puffin' and towin' and shuvin' their guts out! By the way, how did those GEs get in to the mix?

The BN Unit was probably a run-through, or possibly a leaser, and the other one was simply an SP locomotive that happened to be in the yard when they were assembling the helper lashup. SP had a tendency of throwing whatever was available onto trains as helpers, it wasn't uncommon to see SD9s and SW1500s occasionally helping with a grade, so the fact they put a B40-8 on there doesn't surprise me.

Umm why is there a B30-7

In this video I'm pulling on average 660,00"pounds per rail car and running a fiat Alice tug boat engine with full inter axel wheel lock deployment and sand spreader. 850,000 pounds per tracktive drive. About 4,500 horses per wheel.
@josephjoestar32756 жыл бұрын
That's........ wildly incorrect.
@josephjoestar32756 жыл бұрын
Each car weighs 263,000 pounds loaded. They ran in 66-72 car sets. MTY weight was 78,300 pounds. So that's false. Are the middel units control via DPU/remote or was there another crew in there like in pusher/helper service ?
@ortlu-ro9yn Жыл бұрын
The helper units were operated by another crew, no remote units on the Espee
