Fun fact: the vocals for supporting me are sung by Everett Bradley, who has done background vocals and percussion for Bruce Springsteen and is currently working with BON JOVI
@Sonicfalcon16Ай бұрын
I think see why sega couldn't get him back for shadow generations now.
@Heathenshalt27 күн бұрын
I really think they couldn't get him back simply because it's not his style of music, and also he's really not the best vocalist in the adventure soundtracks, I mean he's good but, I think they distorted his vocals a lot and lowered them in the mix because they weren't really satisfied with them. I heard something of the sort said about Throw It All Away. I mean he's not Marlon Saunders. Tony Harnell was a very successful artist with the band TNT and he's returned for projects to this day and he's the best vocalist Sonic ever hired, but I think it's more because Jun tried hard to retain quality performers in genres that he genuinely liked for the soundtracks. He just kinda ran out of them after the adventure series
@unknownmxn768319 күн бұрын
Oh word?
@kieronix407119 күн бұрын
@@HeathenshaltThe vocals are muffled on purpose because they represent Shadow's thoughts. In Sonic forces the remix of this song doesn't have muffled vocals because Shadow's head is clear.
@Heathenshalt19 күн бұрын
That thing about Shadows mindset in SA2 is part of it, and it may very well include the fan consensus that Generations is a continuation of SA2, but at the same time, Bradley just didn't do the greatest job of the vocalists on the project. He doesn't sound like he's giving it his all a lot of the time, and a lot of the time he also sounds like he's kinda joking around as if he's mocking the songs (like how he says "endless life forever" on throw it all away). I read a comment saying he would even arrive drunk at the recording sessions, and while I have never seen a confirmation on this, the vocals support the story. But, of course, that's what you get when you have vocalists hired to perform for games when they don't have a background in doing music for games, they'll do whatever they can to mock it lots of times, like how Ted Poley put the F word at the end of a live cover of Escape from the City when he said how hard he worked on getting the cover perfect, etc. just being a bastard, you know? Some of the guys recounted their recording experience on the soundtrack positively like Marlon Saunders and Paul Shortino and it definitely shows a lot more

I wish I could've played Sonic Adventure on my childhood. I'm now 18, but I've been a Sonic fan since forever. The first game I've ever played was Sonic & Knuckles on a bootleg Sega Genesis since my family was always a bit on the struggling side. I loved that game so much but never knew about other games or Sonic stuff until I was like 13-14 (six years later) when my mom gave me a phone. Wish I had a Gamecube or a Wii growing up. I'm not big on Nintendo but those consoles got the Sonic games I love. Crush 40 has always used live drums and bass. Early on it was kind of fluid who filled those roles but since about the mid to late teens they’ve had a consistent 4 man line up. Jun Senoue-guitar, Johnny Gioeli-vocals, Takeshi Taneda- bass( he also has been in and out of their recordings since very early on), and AKHT-drums. Without Johnny when they do instrumentals, they are know as Sonic Adventure Music Experience.

They are some of the most played and popular tracks on Spotify for that entire games OST by itself they are just that good.

The vocalist of "Live and Learn" is called Johnny Gioeli, who's also the singer of his band Hardline who play in the same musical style which is characteristic of the 80s rock/metal era. The singer of "Escape from the City" on the other hand is Ted Poley, who's the singer of Danger Danger-- another band from the same 80s glam metal/rock era. Lots of Sonic music have those 80s influences, and another great one from Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 is "Doesn't Matter" with a singer from the 80s as well called Tony Harnell. Both versions different from one another even with the same singer and lyrics. The one from Sonic Adventure has more of the "Live and Learn" 80s hard rock style, and the one from Sonic Adventure 2 has a bit of a faster paced energy to it

Yes, the opening notes of Supporting Me are really such a great musical build-up, like steam building in an engine before it erupts, but think of how much harder that hits when you’re playing the game, and you see the Boss’ name THE BIOLIZARD type across the screen slowly as the music builds right before the fight begins, you KNEW what time it was. Still gives me goosebumps. Presentation, man. Track really is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥, candy for the ears 🎧🎧🎧🎶🎶🎶. The way the track feeds back upon itself flawlessly is actually kinda insane. There are lyrics, but they’re purposefully distorted and softer in order to match the tone of the song, and thematically match the dynamics between Shadow and The Biolizard. The lyrics are from the latter’s point of view. “I am the future/A wall to the Shadow” is such a BAR.
