I started with Tekken, but I fell in LOVE with Tekken 3. Mostly I love the hit sounds of this game! I could go straight from the console to the arcade and not lose a step.

20:09 Anna’s actually in the arcade version…..sort of, if you press start on Nina you’ll get to play as Anna, but it’s just a costume so there’s no gameplay differences but she does have a unique victory animation

Tekken 2 to Tekken 3 was a revolution, the rest were just an evolution.

This game aged pretty nice. Still fun to play. Man, your channel may be small, but believe me, your videos have the quality of a really big channel. Keep up the great work! 👍

Tekken 3 was THE game for me and my friends. Xiaoyu was also my main (thanks to the demo) but i kinda liked King as well. I also discovered that he has a very easy reversal for mid kicks (just the throw buttons and backwards). I trained the timing a week long since on of my school friends (after he lost to me with Lin Xiaoyu) switched to Hworaang and... well round 1 started -> he did mid kick -> i reversal and threw and did damage -> he's like WTF DUDE HOW? ... i won that mach by simply reveral every mid kick xD

I was born in 90 and my dad always got me fighting games amongst the other classics tomb raider,metal gear solid, syphon filter, crash etc. So Tekken 2 was my go to...until Tekken 3. That game blew my prepubescent balls off...still top tier one of the greatest fighting games of all time and aged so well! I love your channel man, it's pure nostalgia for me. Keep it up good sir!

Cool video...Tekken 3 takes place 19 years (same as Jin's Kazama age at that point) after Tekken 2, though :P Mokujin doesnt imitate Anna's fighting style because in the Arcade version, she was just an extra costume for Nina :P I didnt know about Gun Jack complete ending :P

This is a game that captures your imagination for a whole summer, if you play it at the right age. I had it in the summer of 1999 and was obessed with it. Only other fighting game that did the same was Soul Calibur for the Dreamcast. Never played another Tekken after this but it's lingered in my brain for all these years. So much so, I bought the soundtrack a couple years ago.

Oh Tekken 3, arguably the BEST PS1 3D fighting game ever made, and the best part about it is is that it's still an easy one to go back unlike Tekken 2 where you have to be more in the right mood for because of how clunky it can feel. It's funny again you mention how you didn't like playing Jin and Julia. Julia took me a bit too get used to like Michelle for the same reason as her combos require a bit of timing to pull off and with time, I was able to get a good grasp on her. I remember not really liking to play as Jin all that much way back in the day but when I went back and learned how to properly use Jun in Tekken 2 when I went back to reply the game, it helped me gain some appreciation and patience to play Jin and he ended up becoming one of my mains after Nina, Hwoarang, and julia haha. But yeah out of the newer characters, I mostly gravitated towards Hwoarang way back in the day. His Taekwondo style was so cool to watch in motion and he had a pretty great character design as well so I was mostly playing as him and Nina way back in the day when I was a kid before I eventually added Jin and Julia to my rotation as well. Honestly, it was a bummer that you couldn't unlock the characters by playing as certain characters like they did in Tekken 2 because the former way helped you get a feel for EVERY character and you ended up discovering which characters you did and did not like to play as, it helped get the player familiar with the whole main cast. I also agree with you on Ogre. When it comes to the final bosses of the series, Ogre is my favorite too. He's not too overpowered, has a neat design, and a good origin story to justify why his moveset was comprised of some of the fighters from Tekken 2 since he absorbed their moves like Baek, Jun, and King, it was just very cool how they were able to have this character reference Tekken 2. On Tekken Force, I agree with you here as well. It was a bit awkward for sure but I'm glad they still took the risk and gave it a try because I personally had a lot of fun with it even though getting Dr. B was frustrating. The characters I seemed to have the best luck with was Nina, Jin, and Hwoarang .I think I also beat it with Paul once as well. I think the best way to get through the mode is spamming certain character's moves that the A.I seem to get surprised by. Is it fighting dirty? Yeah but these assholes are ganging up on you so there haha. On the hidden outfits thing, when you got to Anna, I'll explain since I'm into fashion and that look is one of my favorites LOL. Anna's look is based on high fashion/Haute Couture'. Animal-print catsuits were pretty poplar in the late 80s and 90s in the US and England and since Anna is supposed to be one of the more fashionable characters of the series, it wasn't surprising that she got a Haute Couture looking catsuit as well. Overall Tekken 3 was and still is amazing. It's an easy game to get into and that you can't help but feel confident in recommending to people who have never played Tekken before because of how smooth the gameplay feels and the robust character selection. I'm not afraid to say that it really rose the bar and unfortunately, it never was really topped imho.

Thanks for the long comments! I have no clue about fashion, so I didn't know that. It's fun to learn these kind of things. For me it was only topped once and I will review that game next.

2:36 Back then I didn't know Kuma, King, and Law were different characters, so 9. And maybe 10 if you consider Gun Jack merely an updated Jack-2

I was the same. Started with Tekken 3 and then Tekken 2. The differences were stark, but despite the age I ended up loving Kazuya Mishima and Lee Chaolan. Was thrilled to be able to play as them again in the first Tekken Tag.

I played a ton of Tekken Ball. I actually started having a prtend tournament where I chose a character to be the champion and when I beat them I won the imaginary championship belt and had to defend it and then win it back from whoever I lost to. The only problem was that the mode is way too easy so I rarely lost. Dr B is easy to beat in Force mode with Paul using his cartwheel flip kick.

Tekken 3 probably holds a special place In my heart more than the rest of the tekken games It's like the atmosphere of tekken 3 the character selection menu the music the stages & like after over 15 years later I never knew Tekken 3 had that much content In the game also I didn't know tekken had so many cool moves In the game Namco was at It's fucking prime back then I haven't decided my favorite Tekken game yet but 3 had the best atmosphere I feel like

Tekken 3 is such a powerhouse i remember playing the Winter releases 98 demo that had a demo of Tekken 3 good times🎉

5:00 Both, actually, some of Eddy's moves are not from Capoeira, but from breakdance or even just plain gymnastics. Tekken almost never uses a "pure" style, they always have their own spin, i.e. I did Goju-Ryu but in no moments we did the one leg spin Heihachi does.

I agree that the soundtrack of Tekken 3 is bloody good. I still kinda prefer Tekken 2's with how it seemed to have all kinds of genres in it but as a rocker at heart, Tekken 3's is just as amazing and depending on my mood, I sometimes prefer it over Tekken 2 lol. Also good choices for the music. Me personally, I would include Nina's theme because the bass-line is so bloody good and it's the theme that stuck with me the longest and it always takes me to when I first heard it as a kid I'm also glad you gave mention to the arcade version of the OST since not many people know that. I do agree that he PlayStation version sounds a lot better but I personally enjoyed Nina's Arcade theme because it sounded a lot colder and mysterious which I think works for her character. I also liked Lei's arcade theme as well, mainly when it gets a minute in and it has that intense breakdown, love it haha. Tekken 3 is not avaliable on psn just because this games teaches how a good game can become even better by playig it an unlocking everything that came with with on day one. People would realize how much of a fool their been latelly with all those pay walls and dlcs.

My favorite tekken game and was the series at its peak. The games after that weren't as good in terms of music, stages, endings, content and everything expect visuals.

For someone whose played Tekken 3 as much as you have, your character evaluations are way off. For example, Jin is easily one of the best characters in the game (along with Paul Phoenix). I can't tell if you're serious about Hwaorang "dancing", but that's how you change stances. Eddie is only considered OP to noobs, but once you get good at this game, he's considered a scrub pick. Good players memorize his attack chains and block anything he throws through outright muscle memory -- he can't land a hit on you and becomes one of the worst characters in the game.

Well, technically you are right. But I'm talking about my experience with the game. I was never good with Jin. The Hwoarang "dancing" comment was a joke because it looks funny when you do it repeatedly. Not everybody is an expert Tekken player. I played it a lot with friends, but I wouldn't call any of us "great" at Tekken. So yeah, Eddie might be OP only to noobs - so we probably all are / were noobs :D

@@GFrom hehe, np. Not many have played on a tournament level, but it really does change up how you perceive the game! You should really dig into it more if you haven't gotten the chance to since you are such a huge fan of Tekken. There's a ton of depth to this like you wouldn't believe. That said, I agree Ling Xiaoyu really is a ton of fun to play and my favorite due to all the unusual air options and juggles she has.

@@NickEnlowe And I find that fascinating. I admire people who are really great at these kind of games. I was never any good at fighting games and memorizing combos. Even though I've played the Tekken games a lot, I still see myself as someone with the skill of a casual player. I'm much better at Mario Kart for example. When I play Tekken 7 online, I almost always lose :D But I don't care because I just love the franchise. As long as I can still enjoy the games, that's all I need :)
