That happens if you do the b, qcb inputs, for like Paul, Nina, etc other backsway chars. It won't happen with these inputs. Backsway = d, d/b, b KBD = (b, N,) b, d/b, b, N (repeat)

What makes it a backdash cancel is the d/b interrupting the dash. Then when you release down to go into back, a neutral, then another back, it loops into another backdash. For arcade stick handcams (I don't have one anymore and am saving for one), I suggest you look up the youtube guides from Qudans, JDCR, Hibal, or even TheMainManSWE and take your pick of style depending on what you're comfy with. Finally got this down on Xbox controller very recently after struggling with it for a few weeks. It really is important to just look at the command history and make sure you're getting the input exactly right and then it's just repeating it over and over until you can do it reliably and more quickly.

Question: Been playing tekken since t3, and I used to use controller. My kbd was sloppy but not terrible then. Moved to fight stick (square gate) and having a hard time mastering the kbd. Seems the initial input is: b~b, d/b, b, N Then: d/b, b, N -> d/b, b, N (repeat) If that is correct, my question is do I just roll it to the back input after the d/b? Also how can I make my d/b input more consistent after the neutral. I’m going slow and watched many tutorials and not getting sways when play Nina. Just doesn’t seem to input properly sometimes or maybe I need to practice the d/b, b motion more? Any tips?
@Hiiiro2 жыл бұрын
Heyo. It’s (b), b, d/b, N, repeat. You’re right in that you need to practice the roll from d/b to b. Try that mega slow, then release b into another b for backdash.

By “just back dashing” do you mean qcb, b, or just 2 back inputs repeatedly? Either way, you can definitely get by with normal back dashes depending on what’s going on. Cancelling them a bit early just gives you some more space a bit quicker for when you want it.
@sO_RoNerY2 жыл бұрын
@@Hiiiro nah i just mean back dashing. After I said this I’ve been practicing. But when I’m fighting I generally just back dash instead of canceling the back dash. I use keyboard now so this helped some. I generally use it for QCB and QCF after back dashing.

Would you say this is more natural than arcade stick? I feel like when I switched to Korean lever my whole movement and execution especially kbd on p1 got exceptionally cleaner. This might just be the hardest thing to learn properly when getting started in tekken
@Hiiiro Жыл бұрын
I’d say it’s up to your preference / what you can afford. Even pros like JDCR will say that keyboard/hitbox is straight up superior execution wise. I grew up with coin arcades so it’s just a nice interface for me. That said, my arcade stick is big and I usually store it a way in a box and play on KB or controller if I wanna chill. I used to have a couple sticks I converted to hit boxes and that was pretty nice. But arcade sticks or controllers make more sense with my brain than hitbox or KB as far as coordination and reactions, probly since that’s what I grew up playing Tekken on. For me, I think of them this way: Hitbox/keyboard = cleanest and easiest execution Arcade stick = best feel Controller = sit back and relax

Nope! While you CAN wavedash away from the opponent on most, when you hit that with backsway chars like Paul, Nina, etc, it'll just backsway. Best way to learn is (b) b > d/b > b > N > b, repeat.

@@skwadboss unless the game's fundamentally changed, you're probably angled enough on your d/b, N that it's tagging a b on release (of the d/b) giving you that backdash. It should show in your command history. By angled I mean if you're using controller or arcade stick, doesn't apply as much to keyboard, but could still proc.

@Hiiiro Жыл бұрын
@@skwadboss yeah. The input from the start is (b) b, d/b (the cancel), b, N. Then it just repeats, ignoring the first (b). So you start with a normal backdash, like you said so you don’t get clipped, then you just do d/b, b, N, b on repeat. The second b is usually a slide from the d/b and you may not be thinking it, but again, you’ll see it in your command history in practice mode.

You're supposed to crouch in between backdashes anyway since it's used to animation cancel to get to the next backdash. After you do that, it's just about lessening the time of your crouch and keeping a steady rhythm.

Nope. Wavedashes are just quarter circles + f. KBDs are (b), b, d/b, b, N, repeat. You can definitely do reverse wavedashes on most characters, but it won't work on anything with a backsway like Paul or Nina.
@sameerahmad5571 Жыл бұрын
What’s the use of this?
@Hiiiro Жыл бұрын
Primarily spacing (to cause whiffs, etc), since in Tekken, walking backwards is too slow and just backdashing alone has a built in delay. It’s not too much of a problem in other games as dashes both back/forward are present, but in Tekken, this animation cancel (the crouch) is required to go backwards quickly.
@@sameerahmad5571 www.reddit.com/r/Tekken/comments/86tk2h/kazuya_top_15_moves_with_gifs/ Also hellsweep vortex. And learn the range of your whiff punishing moves. And 1, 1, 2 is hit confirmable. Safe on block (?) if you get blocked on the 1, 1.
